Youth Tennis Provider of the Month: Brody Queal

March 30, 2020

This year, USTA Missouri Valley is shining a spotlight on impactful members of the tennis community as they recognize a Youth Tennis Provider of the Month.

The March recipient of this award is Brody Queal, Director of 10 & Under tennis and full-time academy staff professional at Racquet & Health 91 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

“Brody is an up-and-coming teaching professional in our state,” said David Minihan, Executive Director of USTA Oklahoma. “He is a leader in all aspects of 10 and Under tennis which includes programs such as Team Challenges and Team Tournaments.”

Queal’s tennis journey began when he started teaching tennis at a local club while attending college at Kansas State. Though originally thinking teaching tennis would just be a way to make a little money on the side, Queal fell in love with it and soon fell into a full-time position teaching tennis and running the club.

Fast forward a few years and now Queal finds himself in Tulsa, Oklahoma, growing youth tennis and being a positive mentor for many in the tennis community.

“Brody deserves to be recognized because not only is he a provider for several USTA Oklahoma youth activities, including coaching numerous Junior Team Tennis teams and hosting several Team Challenges out of RH-91, but Brody also volunteers a lot of his time at different elementary schools around Tulsa to introduce tennis to kids,” added Casey McKenzie, USTA Oklahoma Community Tennis Manager. “He does this all while having a great attitude and enthusiasm with the sport he loves!"

Queal is motivated by a genuine passion to help others come to love the game of tennis as much as he does, as well as leaving a meaningful impact in the lives of others.

“When people ask why I do this, I always say it’s all about the relationships and lifelong friendships,” added Queal.

Queal’s impact extends far past his local community of Tulsa, though. He can often be found helping out USTA Oklahoma with various projects or engaging in continuing education opportunities throughout the USTA Missouri Valley.

“Brody is always happy to entertain new ideas and try USTA products while giving valuable feedback to help grow the game,” said Laura Puryear, USTA Oklahoma Tennis Service Representative. “[He] is always looking for opportunities to engage kids in tennis and is proactive in reaching out to his players and their parents.”

Queal’s passion for growing the game of tennis is impossible to miss. He continues to mentor and guide aspiring players and teachers, volunteer and host events to introduce new groups to tennis, and serve as a positive inspiration for many in the tennis community.
