2019: A Year In Review
2019 has almost come to an end, and it’s been a great year full of amazing events, triumphs, and fun. Here’s a few highlights of what we had going on this year:
We poured into the community through Community Tennis Associations including ACE Academy, East St. Louis CTA, Dwight Davis Tennis Center, Franklin County CTA, Gateway Confluence Wheelchair Sports Foundation, and the Just Us Tennis Foundation, along with the impact made by our National Junior Tennis & Learning organizations known as Dwight Davis Tennis Center NJTL and Net Rushers Tennis Association.
Our board also had the privilege of giving away a number of grants to several organizations that grow tennis in our local communities.
We honored a few very deserving people who’ve tremendously impacted local tennis during our St. Louis Tennis Hall of Fame Induction at Frontenac Racquet Club.
Tennis on Campus continued to succeed in St. Louis, as Washington University won their fourth straight Tennis on Campus Section Championships.
We underwent multiple successful Junior Team Tennis seasons, along with gaining hundreds of new USTA League participants.
Alvin Penelton, who recently received an ATP award for Line Umpire of the Year, represented St. Louis while in New York officiating the US Open.
We hosted many major events, including the Edwardsville Futures Pro Circuit, the US Open USTA Wheelchair Championships, USTA League Section Championships, and multiple NTRP tournaments.
We gained new school partnerships, new providers, and introduced countless new players to the lifelong game we all love.
USTA St. Louis capped off the year with the USTA St. Louis Awards Dinner on November 16, where dozens of honorees were recognized for their notable contributions to tennis in St. Louis.
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of USTA St. Louis this year; we would not have the ability to celebrate any of our successes without each of your contributions.
