Happy Holidays From USTA St. Louis
Greetings All! My name is John Kelly, and I’m the president of USTA St. Louis.
I’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone within the USTA St. Louis a safe and wonderful holiday season. All of us at USTA St. Louis hope you enjoy lots of time with your friends and family. Please take some time to reflect on everything good in your life and to renew your energy and spirit.
I’d especially like to thank all our volunteers for your help and friendship during the past year. USTA is a volunteer-driven organization, and we could not be effective without your assistance and commitment.
This past year was certainly an eventful one within USTA St. Louis:
1. We took over management of the Dwight Davis Tennis Center and had a record-breaking year on the courts. There were adult and/or junior tournaments every weekend throughout the summer, and all 18 courts at Dwight Davis were packed each evening. It was great to see so much awesome tennis being played in the District!
This fall, we began significant improvements to Dwight Davis. That included court resurfacing, power washing all the courts, benches and awnings, a new concrete patio under the south bleachers, conversion of Courts 11 and 12 into dual-purpose tennis/pickleball as well as a new gate entrance to the facility, fence repairs and general clean-up. Dwight Davis looks amazing and will be ready for the spring!
2. We also have new management including our executive director/junior coordinator and adult league coordinator. These two individuals will bring renewed energy, ideas and vigor to USTA St. Louis events in 2022. We hope to host many new and unique events for tennis players of all ages and abilities next year. Please feel free to stop by the office and introduce yourself to the new management.
Again, happy holidays everyone. I look forward to seeing everyone on the courts!
John Kelly
USTA St. Louis President
