Missouri Valley / St. Louis

Thanksgiving Thanks

Jill Kunkel | November 05, 2021

Each year we are blessed with generous volunteers who give their time and resources to make the St. Louis tennis community the best in the nation.

Billy Nieman: One of those players who helps out whenever asked. From district and sectional events to award celebration setup and registration, Billy always makes himself available to lend a hand. We are so thankful for his contributions.

Carl Weiss and Tim Kunkel: We would be remiss to mention the tremendous support we get from the husbands of our USTA St. Louis staff. This year in particular, they fired up the grill for our USTA League Player Party in June and our USTA Awards Celebration in October. Their countless hours setting up, manning the fire, feeding hundreds of tennis enthusiasts and even cleaning up afterward doesn’t go unnoticed. Thank you.

We are thankful for our wonderful league captains! Some of whom have been with us for more than 20 years. Their dedication to their players is bar none.

We are thankful for our local tennis clubs that allow us to fill their courts every Sunday. They welcome us with their wonderful hospitality and top-notch facilities.

We are thankful for the 20+ years of service from Mary Vassar. She has developed and supported a vibrant St. Louis-area tennis community positioned for continued growth.

Personally, I am so thankful for the USTA St. Louis staff. We’ve recently formed a new team, and I can’t wait to see what we can do in 2022 and future years to come.

Jill Kunkel

USTA St. Louis Executive Director
