Megan Kovacs Named USTA St. Louis Executive Director
Megan Kovacs was announced as the new USTA St. Louis executive director on July 22. Kovacs — who previously worked within USTA St. Louis as district league coordinator — will officially begin as executive director on August 22.
Kovacs served as district league coordinator from 2016 to 2019 until family responsibilities required her to step away from the role. Longtime USTA St. Louis Executive Director Mary Vassar — who retired in October 2021 before resuming the position on an interim basis earlier this year — will assist in training Kovacs for the job.
“I’m thrilled to have Megan back working for the district,” Vassar said. “She is friendly, funny and a super hard worker. She’s smart, detail-oriented and task-oriented. Megan is upbeat and very approachable.”
Kovacs will be directly responsible for tournaments, juniors and community tennis. She will supervise the management of leagues, Junior Team Tennis, finances and the Dwight Davis Tennis Center, which USTA St. Louis operates.
“We are certain Megan’s knowledge and past experience with the USTA St. Louis district will ensure a smooth transition,” Vassar said. “The district staff and I will help prepare her to make sure she is comfortable as she steps into this role. We are delighted to have Megan joining and are confident she will do wonderful work as executive director.”
