Two St. Louis PE Educators Named Teachers of the Year by SHAPE America
Paulo Ribeiro of Ballwin’s Parkway Southwest Middle School and Felicia Durst of Chesterfield’s Marquette High School each recently earned selection as a SHAPE America 2022 District Teacher of the Year.
Ribeiro was honored as the nine-state central district’s Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year by SHAPE (Society of Health and Physical Educators). Durst was the central district’s choice in the High School Physical Education category.
Ribeiro and Durst were two of three Missouri-based teachers to receive recognition as a 2022 District Teacher of the Year. Ryan Armstrong of Parkade Elementary School in Columbia was picked as the central district Elementary PE Teacher of the Year.
Ribeiro and Durst were two of 20 educators nationally to be named a District Teacher of the Year in the categories of physical education, adapted physical education, dance education and health education. To view the complete list of SHAPE America’s 2022 District Teachers of the Year, click here.
SHAPE America serves more than 200,000 health and PE educators across the U.S. and was founded in 1885. The organization helped develop and owns the National Health Education Standards.
USTA and SHAPE America are partners and — through a collaborative effort — host PE tennis curriculum Net Generation in schools across the country.
