USTA St. Louis is encouraging adult league members to mark their calendars for the upcoming player party and fundraiser for the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in Forest Park. This fun-filled evening of tennis, food and prizes will take place Saturday, May 22 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

“We haven’t done something like this for a while, and I think everybody is ready to get out again at an outdoor event,” said Jill Kunkel, USTA St. Louis adult league coordinator. “We can start socializing with each other and just celebrate the support and love of tennis the USTA league players have continued to demonstrate throughout this COVID season.”

USTA St. Louis is requesting individuals register to attend this free event. To do so, click here. For additional information or if you’re interested in sponsoring or volunteering at the player party and fundraiser, contact Jill Kunkel. She can be reached via email at: leagues@ustastl.com

The event will include food and beverages, tennis on all 18 courts — including games and fun competition — as well as some games of pickleball. Attendees are encouraged to bring money, as all funds raised will go toward the initiatives of replacing Dwight Davis’s back lights and resurfacing the courts in the fall.

Fundraising efforts will include a silent auction. Individuals interested in donating items for the silent auction can reach out to Kunkel. Attending participants will have the opportunity to win prizes from the various tennis games taking place, too.

“It’s going to be a ton of fun. It’s a great way to help improve the tennis facility everybody loves so much,” Kunkel said. “The USTA league members are wonderful ambassadors for the sport of tennis. They help grow the game, reach new players and bring more players into the USTA family. We want to recognize all they do by throwing this player party for them.”

The party and fundraiser is being planned and hosted by the 2021 USTA St. Louis district adult league committee. The 10-person committee is composed of current and former team captains. This group has served on the committee for the past two years and will be completing their terms later this year.
