USTA St. Louis Kicks Off 2022 with Adult One Night Mixed Doubles Tournaments

USTA St. Louis opened its 2022 adult tournament slate with a full-capacity One Night Mixed Doubles tournament indoors at Creve Coeur Racquet Club on January 22.

 

A total of 44 players participated in one of the 7.5, 8.5 or 9.5 combo mixed doubles flights that were offered during the nighttime event. Teams played short sets to four games in a best two-out-of-three-sets scoring format.

“It went excellent,” Kunkel said. “Everyone was super excited to have tournaments returning for the New Year. We had a great draw size and filled up all eight courts. It ran very smoothly. It was exciting with some playoff football.”

 

At the 7.5 mixed combo level, Don Tulloch and Nancy Tulloch teamed up to claim the championship over second-place finishers Paul Ackermann and Melissa Matthews. In the 8.5 flight, Chris Carpenter/Nichole Carpenter earned the title while Stefan Nosic/Maggie Cimarolli were the runner-up.

 

And at the 9.5 mixed combo level, Ryan White and Ashley Hennis captured first place. Guillaume Huchet and Severine Huchet collected a second-place finish.

The next opportunity for players to compete in an Adult One Night Mixed Doubles tournament is Saturday, February 12. This tourney also takes place at Creve Coeur Racquet Club with a start time of 5:00 p.m. The 6.0 combo, 7.0 combo and 8.0 combo mixed doubles levels are being offered. Match format is likewise two out of three short sets to 4 games with snacks offered and the bar open, too.

 

Cost is $30 and the deadline to register is February 7. Players can sign up for the February 12 Adult One Night Mixed Doubles tourney by clicking here.

 

Due to popular demand and request, Kunkel elected to add in another Adult One Night tournament on Saturday, March 19 at Woodsmill Tennis Club in Chesterfield. Kunkel is teaming up with Michael Lesko to host a fun mixed doubles event. Registration for this event closes on March 14.

 

On Saturday, April 2, USTA St. Louis will again hold an Adult One Night Mixed Doubles tournament at Creve Coeur Racquet Club. Teams can register at the 7.0, 8.0 and 9.0 mixed combo levels. Cost is $30 with registration concluding on March 28. Players can sign up by clicking here.
