USTA St. Louis Summer Leagues

Jamie Hansen | May 22, 2020

Get ready to shake the rust off your serve because tennis is on its way back!

USTA St. Louis Adult League players may be losing a shot at Section and National Championships in 2020, but all is not lost! District titles are still in play, as are many fun leagues this summer.

According to Jill Kunkel, League Coordinator for USTA St. Louis, there is a bevy of leagues ready for players to take part. According to a recent poll sent to local players, 93 percent of players are ready to get back on the court.

Despite being ready to get back into the swing of things, dates for leagues to begin are still fluid. The USTA has set a tentative date to return to play as June 1. This is still subject to change.

USTA St. Louis has player safety in mind and will take precautions to help keep players safe, including encouraging players to use hand sanitizer before and immediately after match play, as well as encouraging all to practice social distancing.

There will be a brand new league this summer, which takes the place of the Adult 40 & Over and Adult 55 & Over leagues. The new Adult 40 & Over Combo league will only be available this summer in the absence of Sectional and National Championships. Slated for action are men and women’s leagues, playing four courts of doubles in each match. It will follow the combo format of the Adult 55 & Over league; there will not be singles courts. The combo league is tentatively scheduled to begin June 22 in various locations across the area and play as follows:

Evening Leagues, 6-8pm

Monday Evening: 6.0W and 7.0M

Tuesday Evening: 9.0W and 8.0M
