Tennis On Campus Fall Invite Recap
It's officially fall on the calendar, which can mean only one thing, it time for the 2022 USTA Missouri Valley Tennis On Campus Fall Invitational. Collegiate club-tennis returned to the court and was back in full swing this past weekend in Topeka with over 120 college club-tennis players vying for USTA Missouri Valley annual bragging rights. For the second straight year, the event was held at the beautiful Kossover Tennis Center in the capital city.
The tournament consisted of 16 schools/teams from across the section displaying some amazing tennis, camaraderie, and team spirit throughout the entire weekend. Saturday consisted of four separate pools of four teams each. The top two teams in each pool advanced to the Wizard championship-bracket, while the remaining teams moved into the Emerald City bracket. After two full days of teamwork and tennis, winners were finally crowned on Sunday afternoon.
The finals of the Wizard championship bracket matched two St. Louis teams, as Washington University and St. Louis University battled for the overall title. Washington University emerged victorious, and undefeated for the weekend, finishing in 1st place, with St. Louis University taking home 2nd place honors. Rounding out the top four teams in the Wizard championship bracket were Iowa State University (3rd place) and the University of Kansas ['A' team] (4th place).

In addition, the Spirit Award for the most spirited team throughout the weekend went to Truman State University. Great job Bulldogs! The team spirit hit a high note on Sunday when one of the players (pictured right) showed up painted purple and played in the body paint all day.
