Tennis on Campus Section Championships

The USTA Missouri Valley Tennis on Campus Section Championship will once again be held at Lifetime Athletic in Des Moines on Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8.  

 

Starting bright and early on Saturday, 16 teams from across the USTA Missouri Valley section will face off at Lifetime Fitness for the chance to advance to the USTA Tennis on Campus National Championships in March.

 

The top four teams will advance to the 2020 USTA Tennis on Campus National Championship tournament on April 1-4 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. 

 

Here are the colleges that will be represented at the Tennis on Campus Section Championship: 

 

  • Drake University

  • University of Iowa

  • Iowa State University

  • Kansas State University

  • University of Missouri

  • Missouri University S&T

  • Missouri State University

  • University of Nebraska

  • University of Northern Iowa

  • University of Oklahoma

  • Oklahoma State University

  • St. Louis University

  • SIU - Edwardsville

  • Truman State University

  • University of Tulsa

  • Washington University

 

Matches at Lifetime Athletic, 11911 Hickman Road, Urbandale (Des Moines), will run from 8:00 a.m. on Saturday through the evening, and will continue on Sunday. Come out and cheer on your favorite college club team and see some high-level matches. 

 

The pools are as follows:

Australian: Iowa State, Saint Louis University, Nebraska, Truman State

French: Washington University, Northern Iowa, Drake, Missouri S&T

British: Kansas State, Missouri State, Oklahoma, Tulsa

U.S.: Missouri, Iowa, SIUE, Oklahoma State

 

Each team will play every other team in their pool to determine a pool winner & runner-up.  (Pool standings will be based on overall match record.)

 

Pool winners and runner-ups will advance to a championship bracket to determine who advances to Tennis on Campus Nationals. All other teams will play one final playoff match to determine their place (9th-16th). 

 

Tennis on Campus is a way to play tennis competitively without the demands of being a NCAA student-athlete. With 35,000 students participating on more than 600 college campuses across the nation, Tennis on Campus is a fun, coed format designed to accommodate all levels of play, with the top teams competing for regional and national championships. The Tennis on Campus program helps young adults stay connected to the sport and maintain an active, healthy lifestyle throughout their collegiate journey.
