Local Players On ITF Senior Championship Teams
Three players with USTA Missouri Valley roots have been selected to play in the 2019 ITF World Team Championships for their respective age groups.
Willie Alumbaugh is currently playing with the 2019 ITF Senior Team USA in the Men’s 50s division, titled the Fred Perry Cup, located in Lisbon, Portugal over the week of August 10-17, 2019.
Alumbaugh traveled to Portugal all the way from his hometown of Leawood, Kansas.
Shortly after, Heather (Saluri) Nobler will feature for the 2019 ITF Young Senior Team USA in the Women’s 35s division (the Suzanne Lenglen Cup) held in Miami, Florida from October 16 to November 2, 2019.
Nobler, a native of Iowa, went on to play tennis for the University of Oklahoma before she relocated to Nebraska and eventually migrated further to Coral Springs, Florida.
Wilbur Jones will be a part of the 2019 ITF Super Senior Team in the Men’s 80s division (the Gardner Mulloy Cup) on September 21-28, 2019, in Umag, Croatia.
Jones comes from Shawnee, Kansas, where he plays USTA League tennis in USTA Heart of America and USTA National tournaments.

The ITF Championships, the biggest event of the ITF Seniors Circuit, is referred to as the Davis Cup and Fed Cup equivalent for the particular age categories of the participants.
