Two College Championships Coming to USTA Missouri Valley
Two college tennis championships are coming to facilities in USTA Missouri Valley in 2023: the 2023 ITA NAIA National Team Indoor Championships and the ITA Division II National Women's Team Indoor Championships. Overland Park Racquet Club will host the NAIA Championships February 3-5, while the Division II Championships will be February 24-26 at the new Ernest Grundy Tennis Center in Kearney, Neb.
Kansas Wesleyan University will be the host of the NAIA Championships, which will feature eight men's and eight women's teams from around the country. The men's and women's draws will both be headlined by top-seeded Georgia Gwinnett College. Kansas Wesleyan is sending both its men's and women's teams and is the only school from our section participating.
Just a few weeks after that, the Division II National Women's Indoor Championship heads to Kearney, Neb. on February 24-26. This will pit the top eight women's teams from Division II as they vie for the championship title. In a draw loaded with teams from Florida, our section will have two representatives. The University of Central Oklahoma arrives as the second seed in the draw while the host school, the University of Nebraska-Kearney, checks in as the eighth seed.
Full draw information can be found here. Entry to this event is also free throughout the weekend. We encourage anyone who is able to go check out some of the action at both of these tournaments. There will be some great tennis to watch and two great facilities on display.
