USPTA Missouri Valley Convention a Big Hit in Kansas City
Blue Hills Country Club in Kansas City, MO, recently hosted the annual United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) Missouri Valley Division Convention, and it was the perfect location for teaching professionals to gather, discuss the state of community tennis, share some tips, award top performers, and more.
On Friday, August 19, the convention kicked off with round table discussions on the topics of community tennis, private clubs, and commercial clubs. Rich Slivocka, Mike Woody, and Marissa Brown helped chair these discussions, and everyone left with a lot of great insight into these hot topics. A discussion hosted by Kim Bastable on how a competitive mindset affects your career followed, as did Craig O’Shannessy’s tennis singles strategy workshop. The day wrapped up with some drills and games as part of the Fun Fest, led by Rick Walsh.
Saturday, August 20, started bright and early at 8:30 a.m. with Thiago Santos sharing his knowledge on “The Art of Creating Adult Drills”. Then, Mike Baugh shared his “6 F’s to Keep Your Practice Fantastic,” followed by Boomer Saia’s “Blueprint to a Championship Culture”. Attendees broke away for an awards luncheon filled with applause for the deserving winners before wrapping up with O’Shannessy to work on tennis doubles strategy.
A wonderful time was had by all in attendance, and we look forward to next year’s event!. Keep an eye on the USPTA Missouri Valley Facebook page to stay up-to-date on all the latest happenings.
