Tennis is one of the 30-plus sports offered at the national competition, with singles, doubles and mixed doubles divisions available for participants. Additional sports include individual and team options such as basketball, bowling, powerlifting, shuffleboard, softball and volleyball.
The 2023 National Senior Games welcomed more than 700 tennis players to its marquee event in Pittsburgh, with Des Moines seeking to best that mark next year. More than 100,000 adults partake in Senior Games events across the country every year.
To qualify for the 2025 National Senior Games, individuals must first compete in a State Senior Games in 2024. According to the 2025 NSG rulebook, individuals who place first, second, third and fourth in tennis at a qualifying 2024 State Senior Games will earn qualification for the 2025 National Senior Games.
The rulebook states athletes must qualify in each tennis event—singles, doubles and mixed doubles—in which they wish to compete at the 2025 NSG. Individuals can enter a maximum of two tennis events.
