Pilot UTR Tournament
USTA Missouri Valley | April 17, 2018
The USTA Missouri Valley will host a Universal Tennis Rating tournament June 27-28 at the Plaza Tennis Center in Kansas City, Missouri and Harmon Park in Prairie Village, Kansas.
The event will be a pilot tournament where players are grouped into Round Robins based on UTR Rating. Players receive multiple matches in a two day period and will receive a set number of points based on their pool.
The USTA Missouri Valley Junior Competition Committee is exploring ways to incorporate ratings in the junior system. Ratings provide the opportunity for more level-based competition which is critical to growth and development. The committee strongly feels level-based play is imperative in junior competition. The committee also feels there is a place for ratings and more cost-effective formats in the junior circuit.
