Wheelchair Train the Trainer Workshop

April 12, 2021

USTA Iowa is partnering with Adaptive Sports of Iowa and Lifetime Fitness to host a free Wheelchair Train the Trainer workshop on Sunday, May 16 in Des Moines, Iowa. Trainers from throughout the section are encouraged to attend. The training will run from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and take place at Lifetime Fitness in Des Moines.

Kevin Heim (Lincoln, Nebraska) will be the national trainer. As head pro and general manager at Woods Tennis Center in Lincoln, Nebraska, Heim has expanded its wheelchair, club and USTA leagues, partnered with Lincoln Parks & Rec to bring tennis lessons to City Rec Centers and CLCs, and significantly increased its junior tournament participation. He is currently one of 10 USTA Wheelchair Net Generation Regional Providers in the country serving the USTA Missouri Valley and is a Team USA National Wheelchair Coach assisting with camps and coaching at tournaments around the country. In 2018, Heim coached the US National Wheelchair Quad team at the World Team Cup in Apeldoorn, Netherlands to a bronze medal.
