The ITF Senior Championships is an international tournament, pitting the best players from around the world to play for the globe’s top spot while representing their home country. USTA.com recently caught up with tennis player and Team USA member Dana Gill, who represented the U.S.
Name: Dana Gill
Age: 49 years old
Residence: San Jose, Calif.
Years playing tennis: 38
Years participated in ITF Young Seniors: 1. 2017 was my first year on the national team and at ITF Young Seniors.
My experience in representing the U.S. as a member of the Men's Senior National Tennis Team at the ITF Young Seniors World Championship was both a tremendous honor and a life-changing event. It was an extraordinary feeling to wear the colors, the flag and the letters “USA” with my teammates. In a sport that usually typifies self-reliance and individualism, the camaraderie of the group filled me with such a sense of pride and unity.

The joy and responsibility that I would feel in representing my country was phenomenal. I found myself standing and walking taller, but most importantly, I presented myself as a positive ambassador for my family, my community and the U.S. I am forever changed and grateful for that experience. Since the ITF Young Seniors, I have continued to share my passion for the game with every team member in my company, and my daughter’s high school tennis team in which I serve as the Varsity Coach.
