Top juniors to compete in junior world team event qualifying

April 15, 2025

The United States remains the team to beat as the 2025 Davis Cup Juniors and Billie Jean King Cup Juniors by Gainbridge (16-and-under) and the ITF World Junior Tennis (14-and-under) competitions kick off this week. Twelve top juniors will represent the U.S. in the qualifying rounds of these events, the world’s premier junior team competitions. The events will be played April 16-18 at IGA Stadium in Montreal, Canada.

The North/Central American and Caribbean Final Qualifying rounds consist of three days of round-robin play, with each matchup consisting of two singles matches and one doubles match. The top two countries from each four-country pool will advance to the event finals later this year.

The U.S. enters this year’s competitions as reigning champions in three of the four divisions. The U.S. girls have won three consecutive Billie Jean King Cup Juniors titles, while both boys' teams were crowned world champions in 2024. The American girls finished runner-up at the 2024 WJT Finals.

The U.S. has won nine Junior Billie Jean King Cup titles (2008, 2012, 2014, 2017-19, 2022-24); four Junior Davis Cup titles (1999, 2008, 2014, 2024); seven World Junior Tennis girls’ titles (1992, 2007-10, 2013, 2017) and seven World Junior Tennis boys’ titles (2002-03, 2008, 2012, 2018, 2019, 2024).

Former U.S. junior international team members include Jim Courier, Andy Roddick, James Blake, Lindsay Davenport, Sloane Stephens and Coco Gauff. Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Iga Swiatek and Carlos Alcaraz also have represented their respective countries in junior international team competition.
