U.S. finishes as the runner-up in the Men's 30 Cup at the ITF Masters 30, 35 & 40 World Team Championships
The United States finished as the runner-up in the Men’s 30 Cup for the second year in a row at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Masters 30, 35 & 40 World Team Championships, which was held Aug. 4-9 in Lisbon, Oerias and Estoril, Portugal.
The tournament is the masters equivalent of the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup competitions, with top American tennis players representing their country in the 30-, 35- and 40-and-over age groups.
The Men’s 30 Cup team fell 2-1 to a tough German team in the final. In individual competition, the top American was Mariko Fritz-Krockow, who lost to Germany’s Manon Krue in the 40+ women’s singles final, 3-6, 4-6.
