December 10, 2024

Americans claimed the women’s singles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles titles at the recently-concluded 45+ ITF Masters Tour World Individual Championships at the Ariake Tennis Park in Tokyo, Japan. Julie Thu (West Lake Hills, Texas) and Hiromi Sasano (San Diego), who led Team USA to win the Margaret Court Cup at the 45+ ITF Masters Tour World Team Championships last month, each brought home another title.

Thu defeated Sasano in the singles final 6-4, 6-4 to claim the ITF Masters Women’s World 45+ Individual Championship. Sasano’s defeat pushed her to a trophy in mixed doubles, however, as she teamed with Trent Miller (Del Mar, Calif.) to defeat the Dutch team of Caroline De Vries and Dennis Bank 1-6, 6-3, (10-6) to claim the ITF Masters Mixed Doubles World 45+ Championship.

Miller doubled up on hardware by teaming with fellow American Rodolfo Rodriguez (San Diego) to defeat the second-seeded Spanish team of Nuno Matias and Antonio Moura 6-2, 7-5 and claim the ITF Masters Men’s Doubles World 45+ Championship.
