United States captures four titles at the 2024 ITF World Team Championships

March 19, 2024

American teams won four of the 10 titles at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) 65-, 70-, 75-, 80-, 85-and-over World Team Championships in Manavgat, Antalya, Turkey. The women’s and men’s teams each won two titles.

The tournament is the super-senior equivalent of the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup competitions, where top tennis players represent their country in the 65-, 70-, 75-, 80-, 85-and-over age groups.

This year’s teams took home titles in the Gardnar Mulloy Cup (men’s 80 & over), Lorne Main Cup (men’s 85 & over), Kitty Godfree Cup (women’s 65 & over), and Angela Mortimer Cup (women’s 85 & over). This was the second year in a row the American teams brought home the Gardnar Mulloy, Lorne Main and Angela Mortimer Cups.

The Althea Gibson Cup (women's 70 & over) and Queens' Cup (women's 75 & over) teams also took home some hardware, earing second and third place medals, respectively.

The individual championships are now underway and will be held from March 16-23. American athletes will look to repeat the success of last year when they brought home 12 titles at the ITF Masters World Individual Championships.
