New England Patriots Wide-Receiver to Host Literacy Event at the Boys & Girls Club

CONCORD, NH - On March 28 at 4pm, New England Patriots Wide Receiver Malcolm Mitchell will appear at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Concord to rally local children around the magic of reading.  Mitchell will present his newly published children’s book “The Magician’s Hat” and talk to students about the link between literacy and success in school, on the playing field and beyond.  Sponsored by local tennis and education organization Advantage Kids, with a generous grant from USTA New England, Read with Malcolm is free and open to the public. Participating children will receive a copy of “The Magician’s Hat” to take home.

Boys & Girls Club Executive Director Chris Emond said he is thrilled that USTA New England and Advantage Kids are bringing Malcolm Mitchell to the Boys & Girls Club. “Advantage Kids understands that sports can be a powerful vehicle for engaging kids in learning,” Emond stated. “Over the past few years the organization’s tennis and learning program has helped dozens of Club members with homework completion, math and reading skills and important life lessons.”
