Registration is now open for the 2019 New England High School Tennis Coaches conference.  This conference is for tennis professionals, high school tennis coaches or volunteers in New England who work with high school players or wants to get more involved with the game. The conference features a variety of topics to help improve your skills. The conference provides a great opportunity to meet and network with tennis coaches in New England and beyond! 

 

Lunch will be provided for all attendees.

Hans Romer - Effective Practice Sessions with Large Groups

 

Director of Tennis Hans Römer was born and raised in The Netherlands, where he graduated with a BA Degree in Phys. ADVERTISEMENT Ed. at the prestigious CIOS sport College. Playing and coaching tennis soon went hand-in-hand in a nation where tennis is the #2 sport! A personal invitation from legendary coach Vic Braden was a major reason to make his move to California, where he became actively involved with the USPTA as well.

 

In addition to being the only USPTA Master Professional in the State of Maine (7 in New England), Hans also earned his PTR Professional 5A rating and successfully completed the USTA High Performance Program. Hans has been active as Zonal Coach for USTA Southern and Northern California, and in Maine he coached High School Tennis at the Fryeburg Academy, was head coach for Women’s tennis at USM, and interim head coach for both Men’s and Women’s Tennis at Colby College.

 

As Executive Director for USPTA New England, Hans takes a lot of pride in Continuing Education. Hosting, speaking and participating at seminars and conferences is part of his coaching DNA.  Traveling, surfing, snowshoeing and walking his yellow Labrador Kip is what Hans enjoys when he is not on the tennis court. Hans, his wife Kristin and Kip reside in the beautiful coastal town of Yarmouth, Maine.

 

Brian Parkkonen - Building the Foundation - Skills and drills to develop the athlete first 

As Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the PTR, Brian oversees all organizational development and staff collaboration. His main priorities are to ensure the highest quality standards are in place and upheld creating a unified and efficient approach to the overall member experience. Additionally, Brian oversees the educational direction and content of PTR’s four pathways to certification, as well as all aspects of the Level 3 and Master of Tennis programs. He is responsible for PTR clinician training to ensure continuity of content delivery, and design. Lastly, Brian is responsible for the development of new educational content as well as ensuring a cutting edge technological approach to coach education continues to evolve.

Brian has been a recognized keynote presenter around the world, presenting in countries including Bulgaria, China, Qatar, Norway, Mexico and the U.K. Brian has earned the PTR Master of Tennis distinction and is a Clinician in all four PTR education and certification pathways. Additionally, he is certified as both an Etcheberry Strength and Conditioning Coach and USTA High Performance Coach. Brian started his career at the Van der Meer World Class Academy as Academy Head Pro and Director of College Placement. He has spent time directing some of the largest Public, Private and Academy programs in the US as well as being the primary coach for multiple WTA players. Brian was selected by the USTA as Head Coach for Junior Cup, Southerns and Zonals, and is the former Chair for USTA South Carolina Player Development.

Frank is a 30-year sports education veteran, who founded The Tennis Parents Workshops and conducts workshops worldwide. His innovative approach has made him a worldwide leader in athlete-parent education. Frank’s commitment to coaching excellence helped develop approximately 100 National Champions, hundreds of NCAA athletes, numerous NCAA All-Americans and several professional athletes. Frank is Vice Chair of the USTA/SCTA Coaches Commission. He was named Tennis Director of the Year by USPTA Southern California, and was voted top tennis professional by Southern California Tennis & Golf Magazine several times. Frank is a popular speaker, sports educator, instructional writer for ITF Coaching & Sports Science Review, UK Tennis, Tennis and Tennis View. He wrote Championship Tennis, The Tennis Parent’s Bible 2nd Edition, Raising Athletic Royalty and The Mental Emotional Workbook Series. His television appearances include The NBC Today Show, OCN-World Team Tennis, Fox Sports, Tennis Canada and Tennis Australia.


Anel  Bellevue -  Muscular endurance, Strength & Stretch warm


Anel Bellevue, Founder & CEO of Nouflex LLC and the director of training education at the Longfellow Health Clubs. Anel always had playing sports and being active in his blood. He is passionate about track & field, tennis, soccer, basketball, cross-country, martial arts, weightlifting, yoga, Pilates, skiing, rock climbing, and hiking.

Anel is a Nouflex certified Personal Trainer, a Women’s Fitness Specialist, and a Senior Fitness Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). While earning his B.S. in Exercise Kinesiology at UMass Amherst he specialized in athletic training, total body makeovers, weight management, injury prevention, fall prevention, corrective exercise, and functional training. Anel believes that fitness is a way of being and a lifelong commitment.

After entering Medical school Anel realized that medicine was not his calling. He decided to connect with people in the preventive phase of health by pursuing a career in fitness and business. After years as a personal trainer working with many clients and other trainers, Anel founded Nufit and now Nouflex LLC. with the intent of bringing changes to the health and fitness industry. With years of training experience, utilizing innovative exercises and dietary instruction, Anel can craft a custom plan to help you reach your goal faster than you might imagine.
