CONCORD, MA – The Senior Clay Courts championships have come to an end with the second of two events taking place at the Concord Country Club in Concord, MA from August 9-12. Men’s 50s, 55s, 75s, 80s and 85s singles and doubles divisions competed, along with Men’s 85s doubles, for New England ranking points. Winners in the singles divisions were also awarded national ranking points.

 

The Senior Clay Courts are a part of the Senior Slam tournament series, which in 2018 includes clay and grass court championships. The first Senior Clay Court event of the summer took place from July 12-15 and included men’s as well as women’s divisions. The Senior Slams will conclude with the grass court tournament in Newport, RI from September 6-9.

 

In the 55s singles, No. 6 seed Robert Reby made a run for the title but fell short against No. ADVERTISEMENT 1 seed Peter Appleton in the finals. No. 2 seeded Steven Durante and John Wilcox defeated defending champions and No. 1 seed Steven Gulla and Carl Norbeck in the 50s doubles division.

 

Following the tournament, players and their families were invited to a cocktail party where they enjoyed food, drinks and raffles.
