Congratulations to Max Exsted (Savage, Minn.) on winning the 12s Doubles title and earning finalist honors at the first-ever USTA National Level 3 at Huether Family Match Pointe in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Exsted and his partner Astro Philipovic (New York, NY) took out Northern players Emmanuel Alex (Arden Hills, Minn.) and Nolan Ranger (Edina, Minn.) 6-0 in the championship. In the singles final, Philipovic and Exsted were on opposite sides of the net with the New Yorker edging Exsted 6-3, 3-6, 10-8.

Northern players fared well in South Dakota as Alex and Ranger faced off in the Boys 12s third-place match with Alex winning 6-3, 7-5.

In Boys 14s, Minneapolis' Sujit Chepuri lost in the finals to Ellis Short of Boca Raton, Fla., 7-6 (10), 6-1, while Bjorn Swenson (North Oaks, Minn.) took home third place honors with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Noah Hernandez (Hinsdale, Ill.).  Chepuri and Swenson also advanced to the doubles finals, falling to Daniel Schaffer (Boca Raton, Fla) and Short 7-5.

The event marked the first time that Huether Family Match Pointe had hosted a National event of this magnitude. ADVERTISEMENT In 2017, Huether Family Match Pointe was one of 12 venues nationwide named a USTA National Outstanding Facility winner. Congratulations to the team at HFMP.
