Updated: Thursday, August 5th, 2021
CLICK HERE for USTA NorCal's current COVID-19 guidelines or read below.
After careful review of the most recent recommendations by the CDC, regulations by the State of California (CDPH), and local counties and municipalities, USTA NorCal will be updating our mask policy for player participation in USTA NorCal events accordingly:
- All staff, athletes, parents, and others that enter facilities will be required to wear face coverings regardless of vaccination status.
- We will follow the most restrictive policy governed and promulgated by the CDC, CDPH, local county, municipality, city, or facility.
- It is the players responsibility to be aware and comply with the facility policy.
- If the facility does not have a posted policy the player will follow the next most restrictive guideline; (City, County, CDPH, CDC) in that order.
In observance of the mask requirements, we will continue to offer events for players and parents will still be able to attend. Face coverings will not be required during on court competition.ADVERTISEMENT
Players have the option to bring their own chairs for changeovers and water for their event. We will monitor this situation and will continue to follow the guidelines that are most restrictive.
We are committed to maintaining the health and wellbeing of all of our members of the USTA NorCal community. Thank you for your patience and consideration. This policy will be effective immediately until further notice.

Dear Captains and Players,
We regret to inform you that USTA NorCal has postponed all player registration until Monday, July 20th. Due to the varying county restrictions and state guidelines around COVID-19, we have learned that many facilities are still closed or they have restrictions against doubles, league play and allowing guests during this time. We appreciate the enthusiasm we have received from players eager to get back on the court and we cannot wait to be able to provide a positive and safe experience for all those who wish to participate!
Thank you for your patience,
The Adult League Team
Update: Wednesday, May 20, 2020
As Parks and Facilities begin to reopen in Northern California, USTA NorCal recognizes that there needs to be guidelines in order to maintain safe playing conditions throughout our section.
The USTA has created two "Playing Tennis Safely" documents, one geared to players and one geared to tennis facilities, that have been developed by the USTA in conjunction with its Medical Advisory Group and its Industry partners. These documents provide extensive guidelines for the safe return to the courts.
By following these guidelines as well as those of local governments and health agencies, facilities and players will be able to make informed decisions as to when play can recommence.
