Andry, Hamm, White selected for 2027 Southern Tennis Hall of Fame

The Southern Tennis Foundation (STF), the charitable affiliate of United States Tennis Association (USTA) Southern Section, announces three tennis luminaries have been selected for induction into the Southern Tennis Hall of Fame Class of 2027: Peggy Moore Andry, Jim Hamm and Hon. Derek J. White.

They will be inducted during the Lucy Garvin Southern Tennis Hall of Fame Banquet, scheduled for Jan. 23, 2027, in Atlanta.

PEGGY MOORE ANDRY, New Orleans

• Competed in four consecutive US Opens from 1963-66 at Forest Hills, NY.
• Captured more than 50 junior tournament titles and more than 20 adult tournament championships during an outstanding competitive career.
• Earned No. 1 rankings in Louisiana and USTA Southern in the 15 and Under and 18 and Under divisions and later achieved the No. 1 Louisiana Open ranking from 1971-74.
• Won three Sugar Bowl Junior Tournament titles, received the tournament's sportsmanship award and was named Player of the Year in 1963.
• Claimed two Southern Intercollegiate Singles Championships and one Southern Intercollegiate Doubles Championship while competing for Loyola University.
• Collected one USTA Gold Ball, two Silver Balls and two Bronze Balls while earning top national, Southern and Louisiana senior rankings.
• Dedicated 40 years to teaching mathematics and coaching tennis while continuing to mentor young players and volunteer with New Orleans Youth Tennis.

JIM HAMM, Roswell, Ga.

• Founded Special Pops Tennis in 2005 and helped grow the organization into one of the nation's leading adaptive tennis programs, serving more than 600 athletes with intellectual disabilities annually at 18 metro Atlanta locations with the support of more than 600 volunteers.
• Has dedicated more than two decades to expanding adaptive tennis opportunities through leadership with the United States Tennis Association (USTA), Special Olympics and community-based programs.
• Serves as Chair of the USTA Southern Adaptive Committee, helping shape adaptive tennis initiatives and opportunities throughout the Southern Section.
• Represented Team USA as a tennis coach at three Special Olympics World Games — Dublin, Ireland (2003); Athens, Greece (2011); and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (2019) — while also serving on management teams for the 2015 Special Olympics World Games and the 2018 and 2022 Special Olympics USA Games.
• Named Racquet Sports Industry's Adaptive Tennis Champion of the Year in 2021 for outstanding contributions to the growth and advancement of adaptive tennis nationwide.
• Received the 2022 USTA Southern Jacobs Bowl Award and the USTA Georgia Ruth Ryner Lay Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2022, recognizing decades of service and leadership in the sport.
• Serves as Director of Special Populations Unified Doubles (SPUD) Tournament since 2012, creating one of the premier adaptive tennis competitions in USTA Southern.

HON. DEREK J. WHITE, Pooler, Ga.

• Elected as the first Black President & CEO of USTA Southern.
• Serves on the USTA Board of Directors. He is the Past Chair of the Presidents' Committee, Chair of the Section Delegates' Committee, and has served two terms as Chair of the USTA Grievance Committee.
• Contributed to the advancement of the sport through service on numerous national committees, including the Constitution and Rules Committee, Tennis Rules Committee, Nominating Committee, Governance Task Force and Section Funding Task Force.
• Awarded the 2025 USTA Southern Jacobs Bowl and the 2024 USTA Southern Charles B. Morris, Jr. Service Award.
• Elected Judge of the State Court of Chatham County, Ga., following an accomplished legal career spanning more than three decades, with prior service as Chief Judge, Municipal Judge, Judge Pro Tem and Special Master for the Supreme Court of Georgia.
• Founded The White Law Group in Pooler, Ga., and served as sole proprietor from 2025
• Served in leadership roles with numerous civic organizations, including the United Way of the Coastal Empire, Georgia Bar Foundation, First Tee of Savannah, Boys & Girls Clubs, American Red Cross, Girl Scouts, Coastal Georgia Land Trust and several historic preservation organizations.
