National Tennis Month began with numerous events around USTA Southern but few matched the turnout and energy displayed in Macon, Ga.

Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller proclaimed May as National Tennis Month in front of more than 100 tennis players. Many families came out to learn tennis while more seasoned players took lessons and hit tennis balls for prizes at the Randy Stephens Tennis Center. Numerous juniors brought their best game while hitting with Mercer University's assistant tennis coaches Andres Alvarez and Andrea Garcia.

Organizing the event were Manager of Tennis Bobby Walker and Tennis Coordinator II Robin Bateman and Sarah Witherspoon, along with Myra Hernandez.
