Southern teams win five national USTA League titles
USTA Southern adult teams from Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee were the USTA League national champions in 2023. This is one of the best results for Southern in recent memory.
In addition to five champions, two teams were finalists, two placed third and two placed fourth in USTA League championship competition.
Here are our champions:
- Men's 18 & Over 4.5 from Memphis, Tenn.
- Men's 18s & Over 4.0 from Brookhaven, Ga.
- Mixed 18 & Over 6.0 from Knoxville, Tenn.
- Women's 40 & Over 4.0 from Charlotte, N.C.
- Men's 55 & Over 7.0 from Marietta, Ga.
Gaining second place were:
- Mixed 18s & Over 9.0 from New Orleans
- Men's 40 & Over 3.0 from Peachtree Corners, Ga.
In third place were:
- Women's 40 & Over 3.5 from Nashville, Tenn.
- Men's 55 & Over 8.0 from Acworth, Ga.
In fourth place were:
- Women's 18 & Over 3.5 from Raleigh, N.C.
- Mixed 18 & Over 7.0 from Alpharetta, Ga.
In a final played earlier this year, the Southern 65 & Over Men's 3.0 team out of Raleigh, N.C., captained by Jay Copan, was the national finalist for the 2022 Championship Year.
