See some of women's professional tennis' up-and-coming young stars before they become the future Grand Slam champions of the sport on at the City of Surprise Tennis Classic, a women's $25K USTA Pro Circuit Event held in Surprise, Ariz., Feb. 12-19, 2017.
The weeklong tournament will be held each day at the award-winning Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex, with quite a few rising young female professionals ranked just outside the top 100 WTA Tour world rankings, vying for $25,000 in prize money and more importantly, tournament rankings points to move them up to higher-level WTA Tour events.
The 2016 tournament will be the ninth consecutive year the event has been held at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex. ADVERTISEMENT
Last year's singles champion was American talent and former NCAA champion, Jamie Loeb, who defeated Bellis in the final in three sets.
Qualifying for main draw will begin on Sunday, Feb. 12 and continue through Monday and early Tuesday.
Main draw singles matches will begin Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 14, and doubles main draw matches begin on Wednesday, Feb. 15. The singles main draw is a 32 field, while the doubles field round out at 16, with qualifying rounds starting a couple days prior to main draw beginning.
The singles and doubles championship finals will be held, Sunday, Feb. 19.

Past alumni of this event have gone on to do some pretty incredible things, including Yanina Wickmayer (US Open Semifinalist 2009 - won the Surprise tournament in 2009), Sloane Stephens (Australian Open semifinalist in 2013 - played in Surprise in 2009), Eugenie Bouchard (Wimbledon finalist 2014 - played in Surprise in 2011). 2017 PRO CIRCUIT COMMUNITY EVENTS
Each year during the City the City of Surprise $25K Classic several community-themed tennis events take place at the facility to promote local programs and encourage attendance at this event for future stars. This year includes special events each day of the tournament, including a High School Tennis Day and Clinic Thursday, Feb. 16, USTA Member Appreciation and League Tennis Captain's Day on Friday, February 17 and a Kids' Tennis Carnival on Saturday, February 18.
