2017 LONESTAR AND 2.5-3.5 SECTIONAL RESULTS

Dallas defended its home turf well, winning three titles during the Lonestar and 2.5 – 3.5 Sectional Championships. Amarillo, Fort Worth and Houston all had champions as well, with five teams heading to the National Championships.
Lonestar Ladies Champions – Fort Worth
Fort Worth knocked off the two-time defending champions Abilene, winning the 2017 Lonestar Ladies Championship. The two teams shared the same record of 2-1, but Fort Worth won by virtue of head-to-head.
“Tro Fox” is captained by Kari Fox and consists of: Carrie Davis, Scttye Denbow, Shelly Elieson, Leslie Groff, Nancy Ikels, Christa Lewis, Hayley Little, Melissa Pratt, Crystal Shafer and Niki Wise.
Ladies 2.5 Champions – Amarillo
Amarillo swept the Ladies 2.5 division, going 4-0 to earn a trip to the National Championships at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Alabama from October 20-22.
“Robison – Harkins ACC” are captained by Rebecca Harkins and Genie Robison. Their roster includes
Traci Bentley, Berkyle Bonifield, Shannon Brorman, Jessie Cramer, Jessica Deeds, Andrea DeVries, Kathy Durrett, Jessica Headrick, Ashley Kelley, Hillary Netardus and Kate Snead.
Men’s 3.0 Champions – Dallas
Dallas won the Men’s 3.0 division on Saturday, August 5 at LB Houston. The team shared the same record as Austin, but won the tiebreak of head-to-head and will represent Texas at the National Championships in Surprise, Arizona from October 20-22.
“High Point/Bender M3.0” is captained by Robert Bender and boasts a roster of 18 players: George Bednarz, Sudeep Dave, Miguel Francis, Christopher Guillermo, Swapnil Joshi, Gautam Kapila, Divyanshu Kumar, Vinay Nadig, Larry Parnell, Ryan Rich, David Richards, Tom Rockwell, Keooura Sanavong, Archit Sethi, Vrashank Shukla, Mohan Vasa, Vivek Viswanathan and Dung Vu.
Ladies 3.0 Champions - Dallas
Dallas took home the Ladies 3.0 crown, winning 3-2 over San Angelo late Saturday, then defeating Abilene 4-1 on Sunday at Brookhaven Country Club. Dallas went undefeated in flight play, with an individual score of 11-4 and losing just 10 sets.
“Royal Oaks/Griswold-Skorpil W3.0” are captained by Sarah Griswold and features players Ally Abbasi, Christina Bell, Amy Benson, Deanna Carrell, Erin Copley, Erin Fitzenhagen, Kelley Green, Darla Haglund, Elizabeth King, Meredith Noble, Tami Ondeck, Melissa Peticolas, Nicole Richter, Tami Carr Skorpil and Mary Yang. They will be headed to Surprise, Arizona from October 20-22 for the National Championships.
Men's 3.5 Champions – Houston
Houston swept the finals, winning 5-0 over SETX to earn a trip to Nationals for the Men’s 3.5 division. The team will head to Surprise, Arizona on October 6-8 for the 18 & Over 3.5 National Championships.
“HFTC – Hurricanes” are captained by Jason Freeman and Michael Tran. Their roster consists of Jerome Ardoin, Pin Chiu, Gabriel Colmenares, Bruce Inting, TyAnthony Jones, Ronnie Kwan, Patrick Larroza, Kenji Lau, Grant Lopez, Sherif Mohamed, Ivan Muller-Sierra, Hugo Palencia, Chris Reese, Mark Sapo, Victor Tan, Brian Vero, Stewart White, Greg Wiley and Ryan Wong.
Ladies 3.5 Champions – Wild Dallas
Wild Dallas defeated Dallas Sunday despite having just eight players to compete in the championship. The team earns a trip to Surprise, Arizona at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex.
“Greenhill/James W3.5” is captained by Angela James and consists of players Denelle Alexander, Aimee Cali, Gale Dunleavy, Candice Ewing, Cindy Gray, Kimberly Hart, Jennifer Hill, Shepherd Homan, Lisa Johnson, Wendy Kaplan, Suzanne Kim, Velma Kinsella, Leigh Koch, Pamela Kvale, Melissa Lipshy, Grace Peluffo, Karen Porter, Joulia Prous, Tia Spikes and Katie Warner.
