2018 ADULT 18 & OVER 2.5, 3.5 & 4.5 SECTIONAL RESULTS

Five teams will represent Texas at the USTA National Championships after winning their division at the Adult 18 & Over 2.5, 3.5 & 4.5 Sectional Championship on Sunday, August 5.
Ladies 2.5 Champions – Laredo
Laredo dominated the Ladies 2.5 division, losing just two sets all weekend before defeating Dallas 3-0 in the finals. The team will go to the 18 & Over 2.5 Women’s National Championships at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida from October 12-14.
“Match Maker’s” are captained by Graciela Saenz and feature a roster of: Laura Benavides, Emilia Gonzalez, Ana Mancera, Ivonne Montemayor, Donna Rudnicki and Milersy Rodriguez.
Men’s 3.5 Champions – Houston
Houston defeated Wild Austin 5-0 in the semifinals before taking down Dallas 3-2 in the finals to earn a spot at Nationals. The team will go to the 18 & Over 3.5 National Championships at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida from October 12-14.
“MPTC-Hawkeye” is captained by Freddy Soewito and co-captained by Charles Gabbard. The roster includes: Rishi Bansal, Maximino Blasini, Jonathan Clark, Wesley Clothier, Barry Gibson, John Henry, Moises Hernandez, Jay Huh, James Juneau, David Kolacny, Matt McDonald, Zachary Mitchell, Ben Plovier, Stuart Percle, Javier Rebolledo, Ahmad Soussi and Tomoaki Tsuchiya.
Ladies 3.5 Champions – Wild Dallas
Wild Dallas made relatively easy work of the Ladies 3.5 division, defeating Houston 4-1 in the semis before downing San Antonio 5-0 in the finals. The team will go to the 18 & Over 3.5 National Championships at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida from October 12-14.
“High Point/Hord W3.5S” are captained by Lynn Hord and play out of High Point Park Tennis Center in Plano. The team consists of: Chesle Blair, Mary Jane Carter, Jennifer Cascavilla, Emily Chapman, Amy Cox, Martha Sue Crowther, Victoria Dargis, Allison Glastad, Mary Hampton, DeAnna Haynes, Cheryl Howard, Lisa Johnson, Maritza Liaw, Rosalyn Luong, Kathryn Pirozzoli, Pamela Pluss, Sandy Seaton, Amy Smith, Melany White, Hollie Williams, Julie Wolf and Melanie Ybarra.
Men’s 4.5 Champions – Abilene
Abilene was the final team to make it through to the semifinals, but won both the semis and the finals 4-1 on Sunday to take the Men’s 4.5 title. The team will go to the 18 & Over 4.5 National Championships at the Arlington Tennis Center in Arlington, Texas.
“Navejas Team” is captained by Emmanuel Navejas and sports a roster of: Karl Bein, Christopher Breaux, Felipe Cruz, Coletun Espinosa, Jake Hoelting, Jaxton Hoelting, James Landess, Samuel Miers, Bryan Rainwater and Alex Whitten.
Ladies 4.5 Champions – Dallas
It came down to #3 doubles, but Dallas won a third set tiebreak to give them the 3-2 win over Austin in the finals of the Ladies 4.5 division. The team will go to the 18 & Over 4.5 National Championships at the Arlington Tennis Center in Arlington, Texas.
“Oak Creek/Weidlich W4.5S” are captained by Val Weidlich and play out of Oak Creek Tennis Center in Carrollton. Their roster includes: Celesta Caldwell, Sallie Canan, Ana Castano-Mears, Lana Ereckson, Cheryl Halpern, Claire Head, Kate Poplin Ikeda, Rebecca Lange, Shana Lazarine, Eri Matsumoto, Julie Murray, Christina Oberg, Shari Patterson, Heather Presley, Beth Quint, Jackie Reily, Nina Reinert, Laurie Reinhardt, Susan Rogina, Kristin Rose, Julie Schiller and April Street.
