2018 ADULT 18 & OVER LONE STAR, 3.0, 4.0 & 5.0 SECTIONAL RESULTS

Six teams will represent Texas at the USTA National Championships after winning their division at the Adult 18 & Over 3.0, 4.0 & 5.0 Sectional Championship on Sunday, August 12.

 

Ladies Lone Star Champions – Abilene

 

Abilene won the Lone Star division for the third time in four years, defeating five other teams in the division. Both Abilene and Fort Worth finished with a team score of 4-1, but Abilene's 12 individual wins outpaced Fort Worth's nine.

 

"Bowles Team" are captained by Susan Bowles and feature a roster of: Tonya Bevilles, Courtney Bowles, Amanda Calderon, Laynie Cogburn, Jenna Hall, Kathy Hawk, Autumn Heseman, Beth Schaeffer and Marilyn Walsh.

Men’s 3.0 Champions – San Antonio

San Antonio went undefeated, finishing 3-0 to take the Men's 3.0 crown. The team will travel to Las Vegas, N.V. for the Adult 18 & Over 3.0 National Championships at the Darling Tennis Center from October 12-14.

 

"Tennis Park Deleons" are captained by Enrique Deleon, co-captained by Robert Hale and play out of The Tennis Park at Whispering Oaks. Team members include: Richard Anyel, Andrew Breland, Mickey Cox, Raul Flores, Gary Gilbert, Suren Kamath, Richard Kibodeaux, Mark Nelson, Howard Owens, Carlos Ponce, Shanil Mohan Rajeevapuram, Francisco Rodriguez, Scott Ross, Kenneth Sullivan, Cesar Tomasino, Sergio Villegas.

Ladies 3.0 Champions – Dallas

 

Dallas only made it through to the semifinals on individual score, but made the most of it by beating NETX 3-2 in the semis, then downing Fort Worth 4-1 in the finals to earn the section title for the Ladies 3.0 division. The team will travel to Las Vegas for the Adult 18 & Over 3.0 National Championships at the Darling Tennis Center from October 12-14.

 

"Cooper Fitness/C.Noel W3.0S" are captained by Corey Noel and play out of Cooper Fitness Center. They sport a roster of: Sally Baines, Patricia Barron, Sallie Beck, Nicole Cerrone, Lana Constantine, Tara Cormier, Tricia Ericson, Thorla Guy-Renwick, Susan Hatch, Rebecca Heller, Molly Humphrey, Jennifer Jones, Danae Khalaf, Susan Leach, Allison Lockard, Melody Pruser, Nikki Renwick, Christine Shirer, Elizabeth Smith, Stacey Smotherman, Mia Taraszki and Valary West.

Men’s 4.0 Champions – Waco

 

Waco will be the Texas representative after winning an incredibly tight Men's 4.0 division. Waco and Wild Dallas both had the same team and individual score after flight play, but Waco's head-to-head put them through to the semis where they defeated Valley 3-2 before beating Austin 3-2 in the finals. The team will head to the Arlington Tennis Center in Arlington, Tex. from October 5-7 for the Adult 18 & Over 4.0 National Championships.

 

"Swerve and Volley" are captained by Robbie Hetland and play out of the Waco Regional Tennis Center. Their roster features: Matthew Anderson, Colin Boyett, Doug Cofer, Marc Dominguez, Sean Fenter, William Harris, Richard Jackson, Mitchell Kennedy, Francisco Larrazolo, Charles Lewis, Jan Marien, Aaron McMillan, Tanner Moore, Robert Rynearson and Bill Sanders.

Ladies 4.0 Champions – Wild Houston

 

Three wild cards made it to the semifinals, but Wild Houston came away with the Ladies 4.0 title after defeating Wild Austin 3-2 in the semis and Wild Dallas 3-2 in the finals. The team will represent Texas at the Adult 18 & Over 4.0 National Championships from October 5-7 at the Arlington Tennis Center.

 

"Cinco Ranch West - Strung Out" are captained by Laura Baxter and play out of the Cinco Ranch West Side Rec Center in Katy. The team has a roster of: Stacy Boarman, Suzanne Brice, Cara Dunn, Jolie Fletcher, Carol Franklin, Margaret Harris, Amy Hughes, Kathy Kennedy, Elaine Lucas, Dana May, Kim McMeans, Julie Meyers, Lauren Meyers, Lisa Nguyen and Allyson Richter.

Men’s 5.0 Champions – Fort Worth

 

Fort Worth dominated the Men's 5.0 division, going 3-0 in flight play then winning the final 3-0 over Fair Oaks. The team will compete at the Adult 18 & Over 5.0+ National Championships from October 5-7 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.

 

"River Crest" is captained by Rafael Omana and play out of River Crest Country Club. Their roster consists of: Thomas Bartzen, Reid Bourgeois, Erick Delafuente, Hector Flores, Ryan Friend, Joseph Hattrup, Sascha Kiehne, Cameron Nash, Zach Nichols, Rafael Omana, Ricardo Omana, Jack Seider, Orlando Superlano and Byron Talbot.

Ladies 5.0 Champions – Dallas

 

Dallas was the only team to go undefeated in the Ladies 5.0 division, earning themselves a spot at the Adult 18 & Over 5.0+ National Championships from October 5-7 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando. Houston competed against San Antonio, Austin and last year's national champion Houston, going 3-0 with an individual score of 7-2 and just four sets lost.

 

"Greenhill/Meiring W5.0 S" are captained by Andrie Meiring and play out of Greenhill Tennis Center in Addison. The roster is: Amy Allin, Ruth Brown, Alexandra Khadzhyan, Irina Lykina, Lindsey Pereira, Mahuiyang Rong, Ashley Turpin, Erica Vo, Barbora Vykydalova, Teri Ware and Patricia Zerdan.
