2018 TEXAS JTT FALL SECTIONAL RESULTS

The rain and the cold couldn't stop these Texas teams from competing in the 2018 JTT Fall Sectionals at the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch in New Braunfels from November 17-18.

 

Green Horns (Austin) topped the six-team 10 and Under Green Ball division, beating out King Daddy Purple Tornadoes (Houston) by just one game. The team is led by captain Emilien Rabin and feature team members: Hanny Jarbouh, Case MacPhie, Ryan McCalister, Shaurya Mohan, Madeleine Monti, Seth Vogdes and Ansel Wong.

 

In an incredibly tight 12U 1.9 and Below Green Dot division, Boerne Tigers (San Antonio) came away the champions, winning 89 games while both Davis Spring Fireballs (Austin) and Canyon Creek Thunder Crushers (Dallas) both won 87. The Tigers are captained by Kudakwashe Sengai and include team members: Kaden Alderete, Bradley Gunnells, Owen Labay, Juhyung Lee, Edward Newcom and Tatum Welch.

 

Another division was settled by just one game, this time with High Pointers (Dallas) edging out Boerne Double Trouble (San Antonio). Despite Boerne winning the head-to-head 27-26, High Pointers won 170 total games to Boerne's 169. The High Pointers are captained by Anice Stephens with a roster of: Shriyansh Chavan, Atharva Kumar, Saheba Singh, Will Stephens and Jeffrey Xu.

 

King Daddy Red Tornadoes (Houston) won for the third straight year, earning the 12U 2.4 and Below division title. The team defeated the ATA Dominators (Austin) 18-10 in the semifinals, then beat Missi's Hot Tamales (Fort Worth) 18-13 in the finals. The Red Tornadoes are captained by Jane Strnadel and feature members: Shaan Bhagia, Sabrina Blinderman, Chukwumelije Clarke, Michael Mann, Conor Orchard, Aadya Sachdeva and Eric Yan.

 

Angelo Aces (San Angelo) won the 14U 2.4 and Below crown, defeating Massey Tennis Acedemy 24-6 on Saturday before beating STA Serve and Volley (Austin) 21-15 on Sunday in the finals. Angelo Aces are captained by Jim Honea and includes six team members: Karyssa Castillo, Cullen Honea, Avery Jameson, Kenzie King, Payne Smith and Brent Wilcox Jr. 

 

Birch Breakers (NETT) topped the 14U 2.9 and Below standings, beating out Dare Doubles (NETT) and Court Crushers (Abilene). The Breakers won 14 games more than any other team, losing just two sets throughout the tournament. Birch Breakers are captained by Jennifer Hopkins and co-captained by Alex Brotman. They have a roster of: Lani Brotman, Jackson Hill, Julia Minke, Sasha Miroshnichenko, Jackson Walker and Sofia Zulim.

 

King Daddy Blue Tornadoes (Houston) dominated the 14U 3.4 and Below division, winning 105 games in round robin play before defeating Slam Daws (Abilene) 24-4 in the semifinals and RTC Supreme (NETT) 20-7 in the finals. The Blue Tornadoes are captained by Selim Samman and boasts a roster of seven players: Jasmine Escamos, Jastine Escamos, Saachi Gupta, Aly Ham, Vincent Rivas, Pratik Sahajwani and Kendall Wu.

 

ATA Dream Team (Austin) proved victorius in the 18U 2.9 and Below division. The Dream Team won 166 games to earn first, while Massey Tennis Academy (Houston) finished second and Called to Serve (Abilene) finished third. ATA Dream Team are captained by Carrie Kalapala and sport a roster of: Emerson Hammes, Jaxson Hataway, Hayden Hobbick, Kathleen King and Arjun Walling. 

 

Last but not least, Top Spin (Abilene) earned the 18U 3.4 and Below title. The team defeated STA Drop Shots 20-10 in the semis before beating ACE 10s Gold (San Antonio) for the crown. Top Spin are captained by Lydia Couch and consists of: McKenna Bryan, Ben Couch, Tony Couch, Cassie Hernandez, Courtney Holmes, Sophia Liew, Mandy Roberson and Anthony Zhang.
