2019 TEXAS JTT FALL SECTIONAL RESULTS

The Junior Team Tennis season concluded with the 2019 JTT Fall Sectionals at the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch in New Braunfels from November 23-24

 

King Daddy Purple Tornadoes (Houston) took the 10 & Under Green Ball division, topping the Lone Star Draw before defeating Dominators (Houston) 27-23 in the semifinals and STA Domination (Austin) 30-22 in the finals. The team is captained by Christopher Moolchan and features team members: Aditya Lavi, Christopher Cho, Daniel Barton, Ryan Vo, Sebastian Avila and Zacharia Mir.

 

T Bar M (Dallas) earned the 12U 1.9 & Below Green Ball crown by winning 168 games, narrowly beating Dominion (San Antonio) who won 162. T Bar M is captained by Trevor Ncube and includes team members: Abigail Fox, Catherine Hochman, Lily Klepsch, Lucy Yau, Noah Jones, Sivon Urquhart and Yael Modrykamien.

 

SA Sweet Shots (San Angelo) of the 12U 1.9 & Below Yellow Ball division dominated the three team Cactus Draw before beating Davis Spring Fireballs (Austin) 33-19 in the semis and Canyon Creek Chaos (Dallas) 32-20 in the finals. The team is captained by Jeff Stewart with a roster of: Adithi Podaralla, Brady Stewart, Jaylee Brinlee, Kash Kelso and Sutton Cole.

 

ATA 12U Devastators (Austin) won 170 games in the 12U 2.4 & Below division, giving them the title over Rose Park Rallyers (Abilene) and three-time defending champ King Daddy Red Tornadoes (Houston). The Devastators squad is captained by Brian Notis and features members: Anna Soto, Caiden Riebold, Mason Vaughan, Shaye Grant, William Mar and Zhenyu Li.

 

Polo Tennis and Fitness Club 14U 2.4 earned the 14U 2.4 & Below championship, winning the Coyote Draw before beating Sonterra Red Hots (San Antonio) 32-18 in the semis and STA Aces (Austin) in the finals 33-23. The team is captained by Jason Golod and co-captained by Elizabeth Derrinwater. The club includes: Cooper McClure, Darby Austin, Gavin Golod, Madelyn Ono, Oliver Eriksson, Vishwanathan Srinath and Zara Watts.

 

Blossom Lawnmowers (San Antonio) topped the six-team 14U 2.9 & Below division, winning 21 more games than the next closest team. The team is captained by Brady Wyatt and has a roster of: Aidan Moseley, Alyvia Rivera, Austin Hubert, Courtney Williams, Emma Wyatt, Jack Ainsworth, Landry Johnson and Mateo Chapa.

 

Angelo Aces (San Angelo) dethroned 2018 champs King Daddy Blue Tornadoes (Houston), winning 168 games to King Daddy’s 153. The squad is captained by Jim Honea and boasts a roster of six players: Avery Jameson, Brent Wilcox Jr., Cullen Honea, Karyssa Castillo, Kenzie King and Payne Smith.

 

Called to Serve (Abilene) proved victorious in the 18U 2.9 & Below division. The team won 161 games to earn first, while STA Passing Shots (Austin) finished second and ACE 10S - Silver (San Antonio) got third. Called to Serve is captained by Shannel Anderson and sport a roster of nine players: Aaron Giles, Brady Moore, Cassie Hernandez, Charlie Anderson, Elias Martinez, Faith Pupella, Hunter Lee, Rolando Rivera and Tia Pupella.

 

In the ninth and final division, Rocking Racquets (Abilene) earned the 18U 3.4 & Below title. The team won 175 games, dropping just two sets throughout the entire weekend. Rocking Racquets is captained by Beverly Guthrie and includes six players: Carly Bontke, Derstin Crousen, Dylan Haught, Michael Scarborough, Nadia Alden and Trevor Short.

 

USTA Texas is also proud to award 18 Sportsmanship Awards for good sportsmanship tallied throughout the weekend. Mya Minor of Concho Crushers (San Angelo) and Ethan Lopez from Harry Taylor Tennis Center (Houston) stood out as the most outstanding sports of the weekend and earned a one-week scholarship to Newks Tennis Camp.
