Many members of the Texas tennis community know Joyce Dreslin. Joyce had the distinct privilege of being inducted into the Texas Tennis Hall of Fame in the same class as Henry Cox. She is also the person who nominated this year’s winners. In her award nomination, Joyce said:

"In light of Henry Cox's recent death, I thought about who Henry would consider worthy of carrying on his legacy for adaptive tennis. And I can think of no one who has done as much as [Dr. Alfredo & Tina Trevino]."

Dr. T and Tina started an adaptive tennis program for the Blind and Visually Impaired, introduced the game to the Golden Heart Childhood Cancer Warriors, host a seasonal “Down 4 Tennis” program for people with Down Syndrome, and established a Stroke Survivors Club. Not only have the Trevinos made an impact on the Adaptive community, but the Hispanic/Latino community, the Texas tennis family, and their very own City of Laredo.

Their work can best be described in the words of a man whose generosity, tenacity, and leadership changed the world – words that Tina and Dr. T lived by:

"From what we get, we can make a living; what we give, however, makes a life."
