2024 Texas Slam Titles
PLANO, Texas -- After a week of heated competition at one of the largest junior tennis tournaments in the United States, a new class of champions was crowned at the 2024 Texas Slam. Alanis Hamilton of Addison and James Quattro of Austin took the titles of singles champions in the boys’ and girls’ 18 & under divisions respectively, and Jeremy Perez of Joshua was the winner of the tournament’s first-ever junior wheelchair division.
Hamilton, the No. 1 seed, faced unseeded Tianna Rangan (Sugar Land) in the final. After a nearly three-hour match, Hamilton walked away with the win, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.
“It feels really good. It was a long match and I’m really happy,” she said.
When reflecting on her match record and tournament experience, Hamilton was pleased with the results.
“Overall it was pretty good. My first couple rounds were smooth and the last few were tougher.”
During the break before the final third set, Hamilton said she told herself to focus.
“I was just thinking to give it my all – absolutely 100% – whether I won or lost, I was going to play my game the best I could.”
Hamilton, along with her partner Lani Brottman (Carrollton) also won the girls’ 18 & under doubles title.

No. 8 seed Quattro, a 16-year-old, defeated No. 1. Seed Blake Anderson (Prosper) in the semifinals, a re-match of the 2023 boys’ 16U final, on his way to his 6-2, 6-2 win over Mahir Khurana (Spring) in the final. In the past three years, Quattro has won three boys’ divisions in a row: boys’ 14U in 2022, boys’ 16U in 2023, and boys’ 18U this year.
After the final match, Quattro said winning at the Texas Slam three years consecutively felt amazing and surreal.
“I was serving well, my backhand down the line was working great, I was volleying well and everything was going right today," he said. “I’m glad it worked out.”
Perez’s win is a milestone for the tournament. He held a 4-0 record during the event’s round-robin competition and now holds the title as the event’s inaugural wheelchair champion.
Upon reflecting on his experience at the tournament, Perez was gracious and humble for the opportunity to represent the wheelchair tennis community. “I feel like [I’m] on top of the world. Not many people get to do this, so I’m honored,” he said.
Mattingly Bristow of Weatherford and Ethen Hansen of Anna, the No. 2 seed, claimed the inaugural wheelchair doubles title.
Enya Hamilton (Addision), younger sister of the girls’ 18U champion Alanis, won the girls’ 14U singles title with a 6-1, 6-4 win over her doubles partner, No. 3 seed Zoe Young of Spring. The pair won the girls’ 14U doubles championship together a day earlier.
Repeat winners from 2023 also included Kayden Johnson (Houston) who won girls’ 16U, a year after winning girls’ 14U. Tristan Ascenzo of Dallas won boys’ 14U after having won boys’ 12U in 2023. Both were No. 1 seeds in 2024.
Top-seeded players won in the 12 & under divisions as well. On the girls’ side, Jacqueline Nick (Katy) defeated Mila Mikoczi (Houston) 6-4, 6-2. For the boys, Srijan Gourineni of Irving earned a 6-1, 6-1 win over No. 9 seed Wyatt Stephens (New Braunfels).
The 2024 Texas Slam was hosted by the Dallas Professional Tennis Association in partnership with the City of Plano and High Point Tennis Center.
The Texas Slam is a USTA Level 3 Closed Junior Tournament, meaning only players residing in the geographic boundaries of USTA Texas are eligible to compete in the event. The tournament’s history dates back to 1900.
