AAPI Heritage Month Spotlight: Miranda Bishard
Introducing Miranda Bishard
With 14 years of dedicated experience on the court, Miranda Bishard embodies the essence of a true tennis enthusiast. Her journey began humbly, as a teenager invited by friends to play at a local park. Little did she know, the casual invitation would spark a lifelong passion for the sport.
Throughout high school, Miranda honed her skills and soon found herself competing in national tournaments at the age of 16. It was during these intense competitions that she realized her desire to pursue tennis seriously, setting her sights on a collegiate career.
In 2018, Miranda embarked on the next chapter of her tennis journey, joining the team at Ducane College. Undeterred by the challenges of collegiate athletics, she continued to excel, showcasing her talent and determination on the court. Two years later, she transferred to New Mexico State, where she further solidified her reputation as a formidable player.
“College was a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, but that’s ok because I had fun and learned a lot!”
Today, Miranda resides in Austin, Texas, where she balances her love for tennis with a part-time coaching role alongside her full-time job. Despite her busy schedule, she remains deeply connected to the sport that has shaped her life.
In addition to her athletic prowess, Miranda has a few personal favorites that reflect her unique personality. A left-handed player, she thrives on executing the angled forehand, a signature shot in her arsenal. Her admiration for tennis legend Serena Williams speaks volumes about her respect for the game's icons.
Away from the court, Miranda indulges in one of her favorite treats: Ramen. Whether she's serving up aces or slurping noodles, Miranda Brishard embodies the spirit of a true tennis aficionado, leaving an indelible mark on the sport she loves.
