WACO, Texas — Capitalizing on a city known for its deep tennis roots, Waco Regional Tennis & Fitness is expanding its footprint as a premier hub for Central Texas athletes. The facility leverages a local sports culture anchored by the Texas Tennis Museum and Hall of Fame, as well as Baylor University’s championship collegiate programs.

The sprawling facility, located at 900 W. Lake Shore Drive features 18 tennis courts, including a showcase stadium court. Inside, the hub pairs its racquet sports blueprint with full-scale fitness amenities, offering personal training, group fitness classes, a pro shop, childcare through its Kids’ Club, and a Courtside Bar & Lounge available for private events.

For staff member Braden Smith, who helps manage the daily flow of the center, the environment is defined by its constant energy.

"Everything is always busy around here at Waco Regional, but we love it here," Smith said. "The people are very great. We have a great gym staff here, and everybody who works out here is very friendly."

The complex operates as a hybrid community center and tournament hub, accommodating casual fitness memberships alongside high-stakes athletic draws. Throughout the year, the courts serve as the backdrop for a revolving door of major competitive events, ranging from regional high school playoffs to national circuits.

"We host multiple tournaments a year," Smith said, noting that the venue regularly draws competitive fields for USTA, UTR, TAPPS, and UIL events.

To accommodate both transient tournament crowds and local regulars, the facility offers flexible enrollment structures, including specialized tennis or fitness memberships, combined packages, and private lessons. The center also provides a $30 weekly pass targeted at out-of-town visitors looking to utilize the gym or book court reservations.

Management aims to bridge the gap between rigorous athletic training and social wellness. Amenities like the Courtside Bar and a dedicated conference room are designed to transition the property from a daytime workout facility into an evening community gathering space.

As racquet sports continue to see surging participation rates across the country, the club's mix of dedicated courts and open-play programming is geared toward keeping the venue relevant for both long-time tennis players and newcomers.
