From a young age, Hector Lopez has possessed a deep love for tennis, viewing the sport not just as a game, but as a powerful pathway toward a brighter future. Every single day, Hector hits the court with a relentless work ethic, driven by the ultimate goal of pushing himself forward and building a better life for both himself and his family. This passion has instilled in him a core belief that with dedication and hard work, any goal is within reach. Through his experiences in junior tournaments and connecting with players from all walks of life, Hector has found a community where he can continuously grow. Tennis has truly shaped who he is, and he remains dedicated to uplifting others, offering a helping hand on and off the court, and striving daily to reach the goals he has set for his future.
USTA Texas: How did you first get involved in tennis, and what kept you coming back to the court?
Hector Lopez: Desde pequeño siempre me ha encantado el Tennis. Soy un jugador de tenis que ama este deporte, trabaja duro todos los días para poder llegar a la meta de poder salir adelante yo y mi familia.
(I have loved tennis since I was young. I am a tennis player who loves the sport and works hard every day to achieve the goal of building a successful future for myself and my family.)
USTA Texas: Who in the tennis community has had the biggest impact on your journey? And why?
Lopez: La competencia a mi alrededor, especialmente en los torneos juveniles.
(The competition around me, especially in Junior Tournaments)
USTA Texas: What is one lesson tennis has taught you that you carry with you off the court?
Lopez: Qué si te propones algo y trabajas duro por ello puedes lograrlo.
(If you set your mind to something and work hard for it, you can achieve it.)
USTA Texas: What is it about the tennis community that helps people from different backgrounds connect?
Lopez: Es un deporte que ayuda a muchos niños a comunicarse mejor.
(It is a sport that helps many children communicate better.)
USTA Texas: What is one thing we can all do to make tennis more welcoming and inclusive for everyone?
Lopez: Ayudar a las personas cuando quieren o necesitan ayuda.
(Helping people when they want or need help.)
USTA Texas : What does “One Texas. One Tennis.” mean to you?
Lopez: Significa una oportunidad para poder seguir creciendo tenísticamente
(It represents an opportunity to continue growing as a tennis player.)
