The USTA Zone Team Championships took place from July 27-31, with Texas teams sweeping the podium in three different divisions.
In Omaha, Nebraska, three Texas teams took 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the 12s division South Zonal. The Texas Cougars beat the Texas Aggies 7-5 in matches won and the Texas Longhorns placed third. Naomi Widiaman and Theodore Gershon were named the Sportsmanship Winners for Texas.
The Texas Cougars, led by captain Benjamin Walter, includes team members: Meethre Barot, Jackson Caldwell, Jayna Clemens, Reya Coe, Mateo Galvez, Denver Holden, Roshin Kamath, Lauren Monti, Skylar Moody, Sasha Motlagh, Cal Riggs and Elsha Valluru.
In Arlington, the Texas Mavericks earned first place in 14s over the Texas Dynamos, winning 10-8. The Texas Stars beat the Florida Heat 12-6 to earn third. ADVERTISEMENT
The Texas Mavericks feature team members Ella Brisset, Jared Burton, James Cockrell, Ylan Duong, Caleb Folse, Liv Hovde, Kishan Kersten, Nicole Kiefer, Jessica Lu, Jordan Schildcrout, Sachchit Sivaram and Karan Sura.
Texas also won all three in 16s South Zonals in Southlake, with Texas Lime beating Texas Purple 12-6 for first and Texas Lemon defeating Florida Yellow 9-7 to claim third.
Texas Lime is comprised of players Anisha Apte, Savan Chhabra, Harrison Chiu, Callaway Clark, Megha Dania, Hadley Doyle, Sydney Fitch, Zachery Foster, Avery Hilbig, Andrew Keene, Esther Lovato and Hao Nguyen.
USTA Zonals include players from all around the nation competing for their section.
