In Memoriam: Salón de la Fama Ed Chew
Es con profunda tristeza que anunciamos el fallecimiento de nuestro querido amigo y miembro de salón de la fama Ed Chew que falleció el Mayo 4 , 2020 .
Ed Chew comenzó su carrera en el tenis en El Paso al ganar el 12 y el Campeonato de la Ciudad. En El Paso High School, Chew ganó el título de dobles UIL en 1944 y 1945 . Fue cartero de cuatro años en la Universidad de Texas de 1946 a 1949 . Chew continuó jugando tenis después de la universidad y ganó 10 torneos de dobles. Sirvió al tenis en numerosos puestos dentro de El Paso y Texas.
Chew se desempeñó como Presidente de la Asociación de Tenis de Texas (ahora USTA Texas) de 1979 a 1980 . En 1980 , recibió el Premio al Servicio WT Caswell, otorgado al residente de Texas que ha realizado valiosas contribuciones al crecimiento y desarrollo del tenis en Texas.
