Head Tennis Professional - Cooper Tennis Complex

Location: Springfield, MO

Time Commitment: Full-Time

Compensation: $42,390.40 - $65,998.40 Annually


Position Summary:

This position promotes, manages and supervises all aspects of the Parks Department’s Community Tennis programs including programs associated with the Community Sports Development Program (CSDP).


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversees and develops the curriculum for Cooper Tennis Academy and Community Tennis Programs
  • Collaborates with colleagues to develop programs and community outreach 
  • Recruits, hires and trains teaching staff.
  • Performs assessments on classes and evaluates and trains teaching staff
  • Conducts player/parent educational meetings sharing the latest trends within junior development and providing resources on tournaments and junior development.
  • Assists with budget oversight and monitoring of revenue and expenditures.
  • Runs leagues and tournaments within Community Tennis and outside organizations such as USTA, UTR, and WTT


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of high level playing and/or coaching experience with strong teaching skills and experience developing and running successful tennis programs
  • USTA Player Development High Performance Coach, PTR, or USPTA Certification preferred or ability to complete certifications within 6 months of hiring. 
  • Experience effectively and collaboratively leading a team of teaching professionals or tennis athletes.
  • High-level communication skills with players, parents, coaches, and colleagues 
  • Great organization skills; thrives in a fast-paced environment.

USTA Missouri Junior Team Tennis (JTT) Coordinator


Position Summary:

USTA Missouri is seeking a JTT coordinator to work with local tennis providers throughout the district to promote junior team play. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Contact coaches and tennis professionals throughout the district. 
  • Help train parents and coaches to be team captains. 
  • Create match schedules and work with district league coordinator to make court reservations. 
  • Attend JTT trainings and workshops with USTA Missouri Valley and represent Missouri district on section level calls. 
  • Assist tournament directors as needed. 


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Highly motivated self-starter, enthusiastic personality with desire to promote and grow tennis
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Exemplary customer service skills.
  • Basic proficiency of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.).
  • Embracing of a teamwork environment, with a desire to assist all USTA Missouri staff and volunteers with their tasks/needs. 
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills. Ability to multi-task as position will manage
  • several projects concurrently.
  • Tennis experience and background is desirable.

USTA Missouri Social Media and Communications Specialist

Location: Anywhere within USTA Missouri

Time Commitment: Part-Time


Position Summary:

The social media and communications specialist will oversee social media platforms and general communication on these platforms, create media for distribution on these platforms and in other locations (e.g., tennis facilities), and assist in other forms of communication within the district.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain social media platforms using USTA section and national content as well as content created for/by the district
  • Design social media posts to increase participation in district leagues and events
  • Create and distribute fliers for district leagues and events
  • Attend and report on district leagues and events (e.g., take pictures)
  • Increase communication among district members (e.g., maintain contact lists by area, playing level, etc.)
  • Collaborate with district leadership and attend monthly update meetings
  • Suggest avenues for outreach across the district


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Expertise in multiple social media platforms
  • Familiarity with online marketing strategies
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with graphic design and/or photo editing software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Photography skills
  • Interest/experience in tennis


Compensation: $50/month. Additional compensation may be offered.

USTA Missouri Local League Coordinator

Location: Cape Girardeau, MO, Columbia, MO, Joplin, MO, Other locations throughout the district

Time Commitment: Part-Time


Position Summary:

The local league coordinator will coordinate and supervise USTA adult league tennis at the local level.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Recruit players and captains for adult leagues
  • Schedule league matches and make court reservations
  • Keep TennisLink updated with accurate league information
  • Maintain a local calendar of events and keep local members appraised of district, section, and national events and deadlines
  • Answer questions about district, section, and national USTA rules and regulations
  • Suggest avenues for outreach to surrounding areas
  • Assist in running district championships
  • Communicate regularly with the district league coordinator
  • Collaborate with district leadership and attend monthly update meetings


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current USTA membership
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Familiarity with USTA adult league tennis programs
  • Leadership/supervisory experience


Compensation: $50/team. Additional compensation may be offered as participation in local adult leagues increases.

USTA St. Louis Mixed Doubles Coordinator

Location: St. Louis, Missouri

Time Commitment: Up to 20 hours/week


Position Summary:

To coordinate and supervise USTA St. Louis Mixed doubles leagues and one night Mixed doubles tournaments. The Mixed leagues generally run outdoors in the summer and the tournaments are once a month. You will have great support from the fabulous USTA St. Louis team to help grow and manage all types of playing opportunities for our mixed doubles players.


  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Working knowledge of the USTA League Tennis program
  • Ability to access TennisLink online


  • Run the Mixed 18 & Over 6.0 - 10.0, Mixed 40 & Over 6.0 - 9.0 and Mixed 55 & Over leagues
  • Call for team commitments and set up teams
  • Help players find teams
  • Secure court times for matches
  • Generate schedule for league season
  • Any ad-hoc projects, time permitting

Tennis in the Parks Coach/Instructor

Reports to: Parks & Recreation TIP Manager

Status: Part-time, approximately Seasonal

Location: Perryville, MO

Work Schedule: Weekdays, TBD but not over 30 hours a week

Salary Range: $20 - $25 an hour, depending on experience/teaching certification


Position Summary:

USTA Missouri Valley is a not-for-profit organization looking for coaches for their Tennis in the Park tennis programs which run in partnership with local parks and recreation departments. To increase participation in local tennis programs in designated geographic areas for youth and/or adults.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create a welcoming, safe and fun learning environment for the participants.
  • Implement curriculum by facilitating/instructing play, as directed by USTA Missouri Valley
  • Provide instruction at site through delivery of program curriculum (play based approach)
  • Have the site prepared for program delivery at least 15 minutes prior to the start time of the program
  • Provide program and customer feedback to USTA Missouri Valley staff


  • Play tennis
  • Desire to work with children, and/or adults, and be a positive role model
  • Must be USTA’s SafePlay approved and pass a full background screening (no cost)
  • Prior coaching/teaching experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Net Generation, a plus

USTA Missouri Valley employs a team of part-time Digital Assistant contractors to assist USTA Missouri Valley in its mission to promote and develop the growth of tennis by creating unique content for use on USTA communication channels to reach members and non-members. Digital Assistants are responsible for the creation of content on, publications and possibly on district social media channels. Our Digital Assistant team is currently full.
