Walter Wong, President

Walter Wong is a retired Certified Public Accountant with over thirty years of financial management experience at the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Hawaii. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Walter has generously dedicated his time to the USTA Hawaii Pacific Section by serving on the Board of Directors since 1999, holding previous positions as Treasurer, Section Delegate, Vice President and President.


Russell Lum, Vice President

Russell Lum holds a Juris Doctor degree from the Hastings College of Law and is the Vice President and Deputy Legal Division Manager at the Bank of Hawaii. Previously, he has held prominent positions at notable financial institutions including Central Pacific Bank, City Bank and Bank of America. ADVERTISEMENT He is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association and has also served as a board member for the USTA Hawaii Pacific Section since 2008.


Donna Ede, Secretary

Donna Ede is a retired teacher and health education specialist with more than forty years of experience instructing at both private and public schools. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master’s in Education degrees from Pacific University in Oregon. Outside of her professional achievements, Donna has been actively involved in various sports and education-related organizations, including the Hawaii After School Alliance and the USTA Hawaii Pacific Section’s Youth Tennis Committee.


Luanne Apo, Treasurer

Luanne Apo is a Certified Public Accountant and has been the Bank of Hawaii’s Subsidiary Reporting Manager for over ten years. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting degree from the University of San Francisco. Luanne started playing tennis at the young age of eight and plans to continue the lifelong sport for many more years to come.


Kevin Inn, Section Delegate

Kevin Inn is the President of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Advantage Realty with an extensive background in sales and marketing. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Psychology from the California State University, Hayward. Kevin is a talented guitarist and bassist, and enjoys playing music at his church. He is an avid tennis player and has served on the USTA Hawaii Pacific’s Board of Directors since 2007 as a Director at Large, Treasurer, Vice President, and most recently, President.


Ann Miller, Director at Large

Ann Miller is a reputable sportswriter with 34 years of experience covering tennis, golf, NCAA and the Olympics. She co-authored “Wahine Volleyball: 40 Years of Coaching Hawaii’s Team” with Dave Shoji, former head coach of the University of Hawaii at Manoa’s Rainbow Wahine Volleyball team. Ann has won numerous awards for her work, including the USTA Hawaii Pacific Section’s Hall of Fame and the Association for Women in Sports’ Ann Miller Service Award, named in honor of her contributions to support the advancement and growth of women in sports media.


Joshua Potterton, Director at Large

Joshua Potterton is an award-winning financial advisor with Edward Jones Investments who plays an active role in training and developing advisors firm-wide. Prior to his financial career, Josh held sales and marketing positions for notable companies including MTV Networks and Sports Illustrated. He is an active league tennis player and has previously served on the USTA Hawaii Pacific Section’s Board of Directors.


Michael Yani, Director at Large

Michael Yani is a former professional tennis player with a career-high ATP world singles ranking of 143. He has played in all four Grand Slam tournaments multiple times during his ten-year tennis career. Today, he is a Corporate Real Estate Asset Manager at the Bank of Hawaii and manages 400-thousand square feet of office and retail space. Michael holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Duke University.


Bruce Nagel, Director at Large

Bruce Nagel is the General Manager and Director of Tennis at the Kailua Racquet Club. In his 27 years at the facility, he has led the club to the highest member retention and growth rate in its history. Bruce has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Iowa and was awarded the Sportsmanship Award by the university’s tennis department.


Shari Fujita, Director at Large

Shari Fujita is a Certified Public Accountant with an extensive background in financial management in the hospitality industry. She currently leads Aqua-Aston Hospitality as their Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Previously, she worked for the Outrigger Enterprises Group as the Vice President of Accounting. Shari earned her Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Indiana University and has served on the USTA Hawaii Pacific Section’s Board of Directors since 2013.


Kirk Shorte, Director at Large

Kirk Shorte is a marketing and project management professional with over thirty years of experience in the technology and hospitality industries. Prior to his retirement in 2014, Kirk worked for technology giants including Sun Microsystems and Apple Computer as their Market Development Manager. Kirk is passionate about photography and loves to play tennis in his free time.


Joel Kusnierz, Director at Large

Joel Kusnierz is the Assistant Men’s Tennis Coach at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Prior to his move to Hawaii, Joel worked at the prestigious California Tennis Club as their high performance junior coach. He has trained Cici Bellis, who is currently the youngest player in the WTA Top 50. Joel earned his M.B.A. degree with a concentration in Sports Management from the Saint Mary’s College of California.


Henry Somerville, Director at Large

Henry Somerville is the Director of Tennis at `Iolani School. His parents, John and Hattie Somerville, were instrumental in the development of tennis in Hawaii in the late 70s and early 80s. Growing up in a tennis-centered family, Henry has been working to grow the sport his entire life. He has played in Pro Circuit events, coached at Kalani High School and Hawaii Pacific University, and was previously the Director of Tennis at the Oahu Club.
