Senior International

Competition

Senior International competition features the top players from across the world competing for their countries in age groups ranging from 35 and over to 80 and over, for both men and women.  The team competitions are the adult/senior equivalent of Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup, with Team USA suiting up in the Young Seniors (35-, 40- and 45-and-over), Seniors (50-, 55- and 60-and-over) and Super-Seniors categories (65-, 70-, 75-, 80 and 85-and-over).

ITF World Championships Dates and Locations 

The ITF Seniors Committee is pleased to communicate the following dates and venues for the 2022 World Team & Individual Championships.

2022 Seniors World Championships (50/55/60)

  • Location: Palm Beach County, Florida, United States
  • Team Event: Sunday, May 1 - Friday, May 6, 2022
  • Individual Event: Saturday, May 7 - Saturday, May 14, 2022
  • Applications Open: November 16, 2021
  • Application Deadline: December 16, 2021
  • Players who have applied for consideration will be listed on the Preliminary Applicant List posted on USTA.com: December 19 
  • Deadline to notify the USTA of any omissions to the posted Preliminary Applicant List  (cutoff date for 36 month period for which to consider results): December 23
  • Team selection posted to USTA.com and players will be notified of their status: January 31 
  • All paperwork (excluding travel itinerary) due to USTA staff (including player agreement, media packet, copy of passport, & IPIN): March 5 
  • Players may make their travel arrangements: March 5 
  • Travel arrangements due to staff: April 5

 2022 Young Seniors World Championships (35/40/45)

  • Location: Lisbon, Oeiras and Estoril, Portugal
  • Team Event: Sunday, July 31 - Friday, August 5, 2022
  • Individual Event: Saturday, August 6 - Saturday, August 13, 2022
  • Applications Open: February 1, 2022
  • Application Deadline: March 10, 2022
  • Players who have applied for consideration will be listed on the Preliminary Applicant List posted on USTA.com: March 13
  • Deadline to notify the USTA of any omissions to the posted Preliminary Applicant List  (cutoff date for 36 month period for which to consider results): March 18
  • Team selection posted to USTA.com and players will be notified of their status: April 10
  • All paperwork (excluding travel itinerary) due to USTA staff (including player agreement, media packet, copy of passport, & IPIN): May 10
  • Players may make their travel arrangements: June 10
  • Travel arrangements due to staff: July 10

2022 Super Seniors World Championships (65/70/75/80/85)

  • Location: Palm Beach County, Florida, United States
  • Team Event: Sunday, April 24 - Friday, April 29, 2022
  • Individual Event: Saturday, April 30 - Saturday, May 7, 2022
  • Applications Open:  November 16, 2021
  • Application Deadline: December 16, 2021
  • Players who have applied for consideration will be listed on the Preliminary Applicant List posted on USTA.com: December 19 
  • Deadline to notify the USTA of any omissions to the posted Preliminary Applicant List  (cutoff date for 36 month period for which to consider results): December 23
  • Team selection posted to USTA.com and players will be notified of their status: (Players, please note new date) January 31 
  • All paperwork (excluding travel itinerary) due to USTA staff (including player agreement, media packet, copy of passport, & IPIN): March 1
  • Players may make their travel arrangements: March 1
  • Travel arrangements due to staff: April 1

Due to COVID-19, the USTA Board of Directors approved the following changes to the Senior International Selection Guidelines on Dec. 4, 2020.

 

The revision of Selection Guideline #7 referring to the participation requirements for World Championships Senior International Selection.

  • Changing the minimum of one USTA Category I National Championships to no minimum

  • Changing player records considered from 24 months to 36 months

Please note that the USTA continues to monitor and evaluate the feasibility of the above-listed events occurring in light of the impacts of COVID-19, and/or sending any team to any of the above-listed events. We are working with our Medical Advisory Group, and other professionals, and reserve the right at the USTA’s sole discretion to postpone, cancel, and/or not participate in any of the above-listed events. Further, should players travel to and/or participate in any of the above-listed events, each player shall adhere to all International, State, Federal, and local laws, safety protocols, security measures, and execution of waivers and releases reflecting the same.
