WEATHER UPDATE (SATURDAY MORNING MATCHES ONLY) - UPDATED SATURDAY AT 6:10 AM

Based on the current forecast for Friday night and Saturday, we feel it would be best to move some outdoor matches to indoor facilities. At this time, we are only moving the first three matches of the day (7:30 am, 9:00 am, 11:00 am). All afternoon matches for Saturday, as of now, will proceed as scheduled at the original location. 

 

At this time, the scoring will remain the same for all matches (2 out of 3 sets with a 10-point tiebreaker for the 3rd set and Regular Scoring (play out deuces)). We will still offer a 10 minute warm-up. 

 

Here are the details for each site:

  • Green Meadows - NO CHANGES
  • Mt. Park (INDOORS) - NO CHANGES
  • Tualatin Hills (INDOORS) - NO CHANGES
  • PCC Rock Creek - 90 MINUTE DELAY FOR FIRST TWO MATCHES. 4.0M Sprinker vs. Sunset is now at 9:00 am at PCC. Mercer Island vs. Hood River is now at 10:30 am at PCC. Rest of matches on schedule (for now). Updates to come later this morning. 
  • West Hills - Matches will be played INDOORS at West Hills. 
  • Tualatin Hills (OUTDOORS) and Mt. Park (OUTDOORS) - See Below

  • Club Green Meadows (7 indoor courts)
    • Players must sign-in with front desk upon arrival
    • Club opens at 5:30am, but courts are not available to USTA for warm-up/set-up until 7:00am
    • Players are welcome to use club facilities, but must bring own towel for shower or court use
    • No outside food or alcohol allowed, but you can purchase some on-site
    • Café is open at 7:30am; Lounge opens at 12:00pm (noon) - they will have a special Tournament Player Menu
    • Be respectful of club facilities and members
    • Access to ice machine
    • For any stringing needs, contact Nancy at 503-539-9030
  • Mountain Park Racquet & Fitness Club (using 5 indoor & 5 outdoor courts)
    • Players must sign-in with front desk upon arrival
    • Club opens at 6:00am, but courts not available to USTA for warm-up/set-up until 7:00am
    • Blended pickleball lines on an outdoor court will be used
    • Players are welcome to use club facilities, but must bring own towel for shower or court use
    • No outside alcohol allowed, but you can purchase some on-site
    • Food or snacks for purchase on-site as well
    • Access to ice machine
    • Please park in the club’s parking lot in a designated parking space. If all spaces are taken, use side streets with designated street parking. Cars parked illegally are subject to towing at the car owner’s responsibility.
    • Be respectful of club facilities and members
    • For stringing needs, contact Mike Yee at (503) 880-1002. You can drop off and pick up your racquet at either Mt. Park or West Hills. 
  • PCC Rock Creek Recreation Facility (6 outdoor courts)
    • Facility staff will arrive 1 hour before scheduled first match time
    • Park restrooms available nearby courts - a portable restroom is also right next to courts for players on court
    • No smoking, vaping, or alcohol is allowed on any part of facility or school grounds
    • USTA will provide ice on-site
    • Parking permits will not be required for the dates of our event - school will not issue tickets on Friday.
    • Be respectful of facility rules
    • For stringing needs, contact Mike Yee at (503) 880-1002. You can drop off and pick up your racquet at either Mt. Park or West Hills. 
  • Tualatin Hills Tennis Center (6 indoor & 8 outdoor courts)
    • Staff will arrive 1 hour prior to scheduled match time - courts not available for warm-up until 7am
    • Please park in Overflow Area (gravel road/ grass parking off of Walker Road) on Saturday and Sunday, due to multiple events at complex. See map.
    • Players can use showers, but must bring own towels
    • Outdoor and indoor restrooms will be available
    • USTA will provide ice on-site
    • No smoking, vaping, or alcohol is allowed on any THPRD facility or surrounding grounds
    • Be respectful of facility rules
    • For stringing needs, contact Mike Yee at (503) 880-1002. You can drop off and pick up your racquet at either Mt. Park or West Hills. 
  • West Hills Racquet & Fitness Club (using 5 outdoor courts)
    • Players must sign-in with front desk upon arrival
    • Club opens at 6:00am, but courts not available to USTA for warm-up/set-up until 7:00am
    • There are pickleball courts next to match court
    • Pool and gym is off limits, but players may ride bike for warm-up if needed
    • No outside alcohol allowed, but you can purchase some on-site
    • Food or snacks for purchase on-site as well
    • Access to ice machine
    • Be respectful of club facilities and members

PRACTICE COURTS

Our Court Site Map lists all tournament court sites and potential practice courts nearby.  Parks and/or schools are on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Tualatin Hills Tennis Center will NOT have any practice courts available the Thursday prior to our event.

Nike Employee Store: USTA League Members are invited to shop at the Nike Employee Store from August 9-27, 2018. Invitation is valid for one-time entry only during the time period. Valid photo ID is required. Each USTA Member may bring their spouse/permanent partner or dependent children under the age of 24. The spouse/permanent partner must also provide valid photo ID. Dependent children must be 22 or younger with the same address, 24 or younger with valid college ID. Any child 15 or older must have some form of ID (i.e. Student Body Card, Driver's Permit, License, etc.).

Please refrain from wearing any competitor brands in the store. 40% off most merchandise, and be advised some merchandise may be available to employees only. Returns with receipts will be refunded based on original method of payment within 30 days of purchase. No exchanges may be made. NOTICE TO ALL STUDENT ATHLETES: National Collegiate Athletic Association rules strictly prohibit high school student athletes from receiving special arrangements or "extra benefits" based upon athletic ability. Shopping at the Nike Employee Store is considered by the NCAA to be an "extra benefit," which may lead to the ineligibility of a student-athlete.

 

Columbia Employee Store: USTA Section Championship participants are invited to shop at the Columbia Sportswear Employee Store during the Section Championship event.  Each captain will receive a stack of tickets for their team.  Each ticket allows up to 4 people to enter.

 

Stringer: For stringing needs, contact Mike Yee Mike Yee at (503) 880-1002. You can drop off and pick up your racquet at either Mt. Park or West Hills. If your matches are at Club Green Meadows, contact Nancy at 503-539-9030.

 

T-Shirts: Each rostered player will receive a T-shirt. Sizes from S-2XL for men and XS-2XL for women. These will be polyester fabric in both men's and women's styles. Captains will pick up shirts when picking up the team bag.

 

Photographer: USTA plans to have a professional photographer taking photos at certain sites and times during the event. In lieu of the Publicity Waiver forms, we will have a media waiver release sign at each court site which states that, by entering the court site premises, you agree to be photographed and/or filmed by the non-profit United States Tennis Association Pacific Northwest (USTA PNW) in connection with your participation in this event and that the USTA PNW will own any and all rights in such photography and film of you.

Tennis Balls: Penn is the official ball sponsor of USTA League. USTA PNW has agreed to invest funds to use Pro Penn Marathon balls for all 2018 Section Championships.

 

Bananas: USTA PNW will order bananas for each tournament site throughout the weekend.

 

Ice: USTA PNW will supply ice to cool beverages or to keep small coolers chilled (please do not fill large coolers)

 

Awards: Champions and Finalists will receive awards for all rostered players. Champions will also receive a USTA PNW Section Championship banner. 12 awards will be given on-site (9 at the 2.5 or 5.0+ levels). The rest will be mailed to the captain after all Section Championships have completed for 2018 (mid November).

TIPS / REMINDERS FOR PLAYERS AND SPECTATORS

Bring Water Container: Players and spectators must bring their own water container. Water will be available for refilling a container, but there may not be any bottles or cups available on site.

 

Bring Umbrella/Tent: It is recommended that players and spectators bring an umbrella or a pop-up tent for protection from the sun, as certain sites will have limited tents/shade on and off the tennis court.

 

Bring Chairs: Each court will have enough benches/chairs for players to sit, but spectators are encouraged to bring a portable chair as not all venues will have adequate seating.

 

Sun Protection: Don’t forget to bring sunscreen and a visor or hat!

Follow Host Site Rules: We are all guests of these facilities. Please pick up all trash and be respectful of management or staff. They also have their own rules in place as to what is acceptable at their facility so please obey any posted rules.
