About NTRP National Championships

Selection will be based on the 2018 USTA Texas Final Rankings.

In 2018, the USTA launched a new national adult tournament that leverages the NTRP rating system as a way to create level-based competition at the 18 & over and 50 & over age groups.

NTRP national champions will be crowned in men’s and women’s singles and doubles at the 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 levels in both 18 & over and 50 & over age groups, as well as 5.0 for 18 & over. The 2019 NTRP National Championships will be held the weekends of March 29-31 and April 5-7.

**3 singles and 3 doubles teams (two-person teams) are selected for each division.

Below are qualification requirements for Texas players.

18+

  • Players will be selected based upon their year-end Final rankings in the 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 & 5.0 divisions
  • Players will be allowed to compete in either singles or doubles, but not both, barring extenuating circumstances
  • The top doubles players selected will be able to choose their own partner as long as that partner has competed in a USTA Texas tournament during that calendar year and has the appropriate rating
  • Self-rated and Mixed Doubles exclusive ratings are not eligible
  • The sub-committee will reserve the right to use an “all factors” method to fill any open positions not filled through this criteria.

50+

  • The 50+ 3.5 and 4.0 selections will come directly from the 50+ 3.5 and 4.0 Texas Final Rankings.
  • The 50+ 3.0 selection will come from those that are over 50 years of age in the 18+ 3.0 Texas Final Rankings.
  • For the 50+ 4.5 selection, not only will the 50+ 4.5 Texas Final Rankings be used, but also consideration will be given to 4.5 level players ranked in the age 50 and the age 55 divisions. (A subcommittee will decide the order of selection for the 50+ 4.5 divisions.)

Both 18 and over and 50 +

  • Qualified players will need to choose to compete in one age division or the other, but not both at the National NTRP Tournament, as our goal is to allow as many different players to attend these events as possible.

Stipends:

USTA Texas is proud to be able to offer player stipends to help with travel expenses for all selected players. Stipends are paid after the event (attendance is required) and are $300 per player, plus the cost of the Entry Fee to the tournament (Singles - $54.25 per player; Doubles - $28.00 per partner.)

Be sure to have the correct email and mailing address on your USTA Membership.
