About NTRP National Championships

For 2018, the USTA launched a new national adult tournament that leverages the NTRP rating system as a way to create level-based competition at the 18 & over and 50 & over age groups.

NTRP national champions will be crowned in men’s and women’s singles and doubles at the 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 levels in both 18 & over and 50 & over age groups. The 2019 NTRP National Championships will be held in the spring of 2019.

Below are qualification requirements for Texas players.

18+

  • Players will be selected based upon their year-end Final rankings in the 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5 divisions
  • Should the National Office add the 3.0 and 5.0 divisions to the National Tournament those same criteria will be used
  • Players will be allowed to compete in either singles or doubles, but not both, barring extenuating circumstances
  • The top doubles players selected will be able to choose their own partner as long as that partner has competed in a USTA Texas tournament during that calendar year and has the appropriate rating
  • Self-rated and Mixed Doubles exclusive ratings are not eligible
  • The sub-committee will reserve the right to use an “all factors” method to fill any open positions not filled through this criteria.

50+

  • We have solicited and received a very positive response, asking Tournament Directors to add a 50 + NTRP division for 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 to the Adult portion of their tournaments and a 3.5 and 4.0 to the Senior Tournaments
  • Players will be selected based upon their year-end Final rankings in those divisions
  • Consideration will also be given to 4.5 level players ranked in either the 50 and over or 55 and over age divisions
  • Should the National Office add the 3.0 divisions to the National Tournament those players will be selected from the 3.0 NTRP year-end Final rankings for players that are 50 and over
  • Players will be allowed to compete in either singles or doubles, but not both, barring extenuating circumstances

Both 18 and over and 50 +

  • Qualified players will need to choose to compete in one age division or the other, but not both at the National NTRP Tournament, as our goal is to allow as many different players to attend these events as possible.

Below is a full list of Adult Tournaments offering the 50+ division. Any tournament denoted with a star has been changed since the tournament guide came out.
