Eight USTA Florida Athletes Capture NTRP Singles National Championships
The NTRP 18+, 40+, and 55+ Singles National Championships was hosted across the country bringing together some of the best tennis players from across the nation for a thrilling showcase of skill and competition.
Representing the Florida Section with pride and intensity, the Sunshine state’s players delivered outstanding performances, capturing a total of 8 Nationals Championship titles and securing 3 Finalist positions across the different divisions. Their achievements emphasized the talent and dedication within Florida's tennis community, showing why Florida tennis is at the top of its game.
In the 18 and Over draw, Florida players, with determination and resilience, battled through challenging matches to emerge victorious and claim coveted championship titles. Drae Centonze and Melly Dominguez-Smith were winners, while Luisa Subia fought hard and finished as a finalist.
For the 40 and Over competition Florida competitors performed the best, leaving with four National Champs. Steven Froggatt, Amanda Sills, Allyn Selesky, and Luciana Lira all emerged victorious after taking down some of the best players in the country.
Finally, in the 55 and Over division, USTA Florida added two more champions and two finalists. Eric Noren took home the trophy, while Jason Fair had a great weekend and finished second. In the Women’s 4.5 division, Cecilia Collins and Catherin Morgan met up in the championships match, where Cecilia won and Catherine finished second.
Overall, it was a great NTRP Singles National Championship for Florida and the section is looking forward to cheering on its Doubles players, who take the courts April 19. Check out the full list of winners and finalists from Florida down below.
