2023 Intermountain Summer Championships Recap

Recapping the 2023 USTA Intermountain Junior Summer Championships

(Denver)–More than 250 players from across the Intermountain Section took part in the USTA L3 2023 Intermountain Summer Championships, the premier junior event on the summer calendar. Juniors from Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming competed in the 3-day event, June 16-18.

The weather was less than cooperative, as the three-day event was severely hampered by heavy rains on day one, and intermittent showers on day two. Despite all the re-scheduling and moving around to find available indoor courts, all the matches were played and the tournament finished up on schedule.

Colorado players dominated the younger divisions as the boys swept the 12s and 14s singles and doubles titles, and were finalists in the 16s singles and doubles championships. Colorado girls captured the 12s and 14s singles titles and earned the 14s and 18s doubles titles as well. Meanwhile, Colorado boys and girls also earned top-6 placement in every division. Thanks to Colorado Athletic Clubs (Inverness & Monaco), Denver Parks & Recreation (City Park), Highlands Ranch Community Association (Lebsack & Northridge), Ken Caryl Ranch, Pinehurst Country Club and South Suburban Parks & Recreation (Lone Tree Tennis Center) for hosting this year’s event.
